RGCGISD ACE Conjunto Group Performs at the RGV TABE
Daniela Garcia Earns the Title of Texas AllState Musician for the FOURTH Year in a Row



The BE/ESL Department under the direction of Mr. Jesús A. Martínez would like to recognize, congratulate, and thank the RGCGISD ACE Conjunto under the direction of Mr. Jorge Ochoa, for participating and providing entertainment during the RGV TABE annual conference luncheon and award ceremony held at South Padre Island Jan. 13-14, 2023. They represented Rio Grande City Grulla ISD proudly. The RGV TABE Executive Board provided a scholarship of $500.00 to the Conjunto to continue enriching their musical talents and their contribution to promoting bilingualism and biculturalism. A big Thank You on behalf of the RGV TABE Executive Board to Mrs. Adelina Villarreal, CTE and ACE Program Director, for her support to the 28th RGV TABE Conference.




A Texas “All-Stater” is one of the highest achievements a high school musician can earn! Daniela placed 6th chair in 6A, she will be a member of the Symphony Orchestra. Daniela is a Senior and will be proudly representing the community of Rio Grande City at the TMEA All-State Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Rio High school students selected to perform in the all auditions to qualify at the state level. All-State concerts have competed through State. It is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. 1,780 students are selected through a process that began with over 72,900 students from all around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 15 ensembles (bands, orchestras, and choirs). Texas Music Educators Association sponsors the Texas All-State competition. This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 33 TMEA Regions.
Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advance from their Region to compete against musicians from other areas in eight TMEA ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All Area competitions. The highest State music group. Only the top 2.4% of musicians who initially audition become
All-State musicians. All-State students will participate in a four-day rehearsal directed by nationally state recognized conductors during the TMEA Clinic/Convention. They will perform for thousands of attendees whom will bring this extraordinary event to a close.
