State Champions World Bound General Ricardo Sanchez Elementary Odyssey Of The Mind Team competed at the OM State Competition in Dallas, TX and received 1st place, competing against several top teams in the state. GRSE OM team did exceptionally well and are now advancing to World Finals in Lansing, Michigan. Team members include: Isabella Guerra, Ryder Santa Maria, Gilbert Alaniz Jr., Sophia Carmona, Kassidy Garcia, Mariely López, and Hector Rodriguez. After not competing in nearly 15 years, the GRSE team not only brought OM back, but went to state and dominated. Judges were blown away with their performance!! GRSE are beyond proud of the team for all their hard work and dedication! A special thank you to Mr. Saenz, who coached the winning team!! GRSE OM represented RGCGISD extremely well!! TREMENDOUS job Eagles!!

A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to the Rio Grande City High School Rattler UIL Journalism team! Rattler nation are so incredibly proud of all their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck at the Regional Competition. The following are the results: Headline writing - 1st Marina Gonzalez, 3rd Daniela Villarreal, and 4th Emily Cantu. Editorial writing - 1st Daniela Villarreal and 2nd Marina Gonzalez. Copy Editing - 4th Valerie Guerra and 5th Marina Gonzalez. Feature Writing - 5th Daniela Villarreal and 6th Marina Gonzalez. News Writing - 6th Daniela Villarreal. Regional competition will be held at UT San Antonio on April 21-22.

Rio Grande City Main Street welcomes new coordinator

Yandery De La Cruz has been named Rio Grande City’s new Main Coordinator. Ms, De La Cruz, a Mission native, has made Rio Grande City her home for the past 17 years. She previously worked at the Student Assessment department at Rio Grande City Grulla ISD. “I am looking forward to working with the advisory board members, partners, business owners and our community leaders in growing and enriching our main street district,” Ms. De La Cruz said. The goal of the Rio Grande City Main Street Program focuses on revitalization of the downtown historic district by implementing the Four Point® approach set by the National Main Street Center. These points include building partnerships within the community, promoting downtown through Main Street events, designing and maintaining historical elements unique to Rio grade City and identifying historical value and fostering economic development. Rio Grande City was designated Congratulations to the Rio Grande City High School Rattlers Boys JV Track & Field Team for bringing as a Texas Main Street City home the 30-5A District Championship!!! Amazing job by all the student athletes and coaching staff. The in 2002. As a project of the Rio Grande City Economic freshman team came in a close 2nd place overall. Great season for all participants.

Development Corporation, the Rio Grande City Main Street Program also provides several services and assistance grants available to Main Street businesses including: Design Assistance from the Texas Historical Commission and Business Development grants, Main Street Façade and Commercial Revitalization grants.
