Sign insights Southern Downs Regional Council has given further insight into the future of Warwick CBD’s road signage after locals raised concerns. It was pointed out recently by locals that the signage did not seem to be consistent throughout the CBD, and that signs had been removed from one side of the road but not the other. Locals said this is incredibly confusing and possibly dangerous. The changes made to the CBD were met with mixed feelings from the start, with speed limits changed from 25 km/h to 40 km/h last year. School time Students returned to in-person learning on Monday after a two-week delay to the start of the school year. Education Minister Grace Grace said at Monday’s press conference that 870,000 Queensland students across the government and non-government sector returned to school. “It’s been a very successful delay, we’ve had many parents who have said it’s enabled their children to get vaccinated – particularly the five to 11-yearolds,” Ms Grace said. A century of the Tannymorel cenotaph The Tannymorel community commemorated the 100 year anniversary of the town’s cenotaph on Sunday morning. The service began with a procession
down Oak Street, which included ex-servicemen and Warwick Thistle Pipe Band. Killarney RSL president Bob Wright was MC, and the town paid tribute to its fallen
soldiers by laying wreaths and listening to guest speakers. See our gallery on page 27
Check-ins are out at places like shops and taxis, but people will still need to show their vaccination status to enter certain venues. People visiting pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants will still need to check in, and those who are unvaccinated will still not be allowed in.
Ms D’Ath stated in the Monday 7 February press conference that services like taxis and rideshares, as well as retail supermarkets, hairdressers, beauty therapy facilities, gyms, indoor play centres, real estate agencies, auction houses, and more, will no
longer require check-ins. “All of those areas will no longer need to, and any part of government buildings or services where the public ordinarily have access to, will not need to check in now.” Full story, page 4
