Supermarket shelves bare
Splash into summer
If you’ve been for your regular grocery shop recently, you may have noticed the shelves are looking a little more bare than usual. It seems supermarkets throughout Melbourne’s south east, like the rest of Australia, are unfortunately feeling the effects of Covid once again - but this time, it’s not panic buying that’s causing the issue. With the Omicron wave running rampant in our community, issues in the national supply chain and a shortage of staff have led to empty shelves in a range of stores, with some supermarkets reinstating customer limits on certain items, as was seen earlier in the pandemic. Council warns the dumpers Cardinia Shire Council is warning people against illegal dumping as Pakenham residents observe an increase in the amount of rubbish being dumped around the neighbourhood. Dumped waste can be found across the suburb on Main Street, King Street and the intersection of the Princess Highway and Army Road. On average, 1500 to 1600 dumped rubbish collections are actioned within Cardinia Shire each year. Residents can book a hard rubbish collection with council two times a year, as well as additional paid hard waste collections. STORY PAGE 7

As part of the state government’s “forest of protection“ scheme, the childrens’ vaccination wing has been decorated with Australian flora, fauna and all sorts of fun facts in a bid to make the vaccination process a positive expe-
rience for both the kids and their parents. With fun decorative imagery, views out to the expansive green oval, stepping stones from room to room and a showbag filled with goodies like colouring in books and fidget spinners (which each child receives after vaccination), there’s no doubt the hub as been designed with the utmost care and con-
