A Cranbourne East mother has been left furious after she and her daughter with handed fines for parking on their nature strip as they obeyed stay-at-home restrictions. Olga Rudakova has accused Casey Council of lacking “any morals” after she and her 23-yearold daughter were slapped with $99 fines a minute apart just before 11am, as they worked from home on Thursday 30 July. “We do have lots of cars parked on the street because our house is on the corner and we don’t have a spot to park,” she said. “It is just money for council. Instead of doing something about it ... they’re walking around sending fines at this difficult time. The mother of three, whose household has four cars, said she would “definitely not” be paying the “dodgy” fines and hoped council would be sympathetic. “I don’t think that’s very ethical,” she said. “It’s very difficult for people to manage their bills. Two of my daughters - they lost their jobs. “We shouldn’t spend our energy with fighting with the council who are unreasonable,” she said, adding her family had seen the parking inspector in their street without allegedly wearing a mask on the day they were nabbed. Ms Rudakova labelled the council’s behaviour as “disgusting” and hoped the fines would be cancelled, saying “it seems like somebody wants to be a good worker without any morals”. Ms RudakovaI also took to social media warning her neighbours saying she was “absolutely furious and disgusted!” “We have been living in this house for 18 years and now someone makes a decision that it is a good time to give a fine?” she wrote. Casey Council has been contacted for comment. It comes after a doctor received a parking fine from Melbourne City Council after finishing her shift at the intensive care ward at Royal Melbourne Hospital on Monday night, 10 August. In a Twitter post, the doctor said she had worked 56 hours over four days looking after “some of our state’s sickest patients”.
