While Council is prioritising local road and infrastructure priorities for funding commitments, it has extended its advocacy in recognition of the value that East West Link and the Port of Hastings will flow on to outer areas of Melbourne.

The Port of Hastings will flow benefits to Casey and the outer south east including local jobs for local people. Election advocacy spokesperson Cr Sam Aziz said the Port of Hastings is critical to the economic wellbeing of Melbourne’s outer south east. ‘The port will provide immeasurable benefits to residents by bolstering the Casey Cardinia region’s economy with new business investment, the growth of existing businesses and enhancement of local employment opportunities. ‘Council does not support the State Opposition’s policy change to withdraw its previous support for the Port of Hastings and pursue an alternative at Werribee. ‘Such a development would deny the potential of the massive job creation for the Casey Cardinia region which would be delivered through the Port of Hastings.

western suburbs and beyond. ‘The East West Link project will provide residents with a substantial improvement and reliability in travel times for east-west trips crossing Melbourne by offering an alternative route to the Monash Freeway and Princes Highway’.
