Casey Welcomes BIG Investment in Transport Casey’s Liberal candidates have welcomed the record investment in local roads saying they are proud of the Napthine Government’s record, delivering the local road upgrades and major infrastructure investment the community needs.
The project will complement the recently announced $10.1 million duplication of Sladen Street between Codrington Street and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road. Mr Ablett said that he is working hard with Minister Mulder to address a number of road issues that have been raised around the Cranbourne electorate. “This includes taking up the case of Lyndhurst residents opposed to closure of Northey Road as well as a real plan to solve the chronic traffic issues on Thompsons Road,” Mr Ablett said. Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren South, Susan Serey welcomed the continuing works on the $49 million Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road upgrade and the $40 million Hallam Road upgrade in Hampton Park.

Improvements to public transport services in the City of Casey are set to continue with the Napthine Government recently announcing the $2-$2.5 billion Cranbourne-Pakenham Rail Corridor project which will cater for another 4,500 passengers during weekday peak hour.
“I’m proud to be part of Denis Napthine’s team that is serious about improving public transport in our local area,” Ms Stapledon said.
Mr Ablett said in the five year period to December 2013, there were eight recorded crashes at the site, including two serious injury crashes.
“As someone who lives and works here in the Cranbourne electorate, I know how important it is to have a road network that will keep us moving into the future.”
AMANDA STAPLEDON
Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren North Amanda Stapledon, welcomed the commitment to build a better Public Transport system in Casey.
Liberal Candidate for Cranbourne, Geoff Ablett recently joined the Minister for Roads, Terry Mulder, to announce a $427,000 investment to improve safety at the intersection of Sladen Street and Codrington Street in Cranbourne.
“The upgrade will include the installation of concrete traffic islands on the Codrington Street approaches, as well as line marking to clearly mark the intersection,” Mr Ablett said.
Napthine Government Continues Delivering Better Public Transport
The project will boost capacity and reliability, delivering 25 next-generation high capacity trains, improving signalling and removing four level crossings. It will also create 3,000 jobs.
“These major investments in the Narre Warren South Electorate are projects that the former Labor Government neglected to fund over 11 years,” Ms Serey said. “The Napthine Government, in just one term, has committed, funded and started these projects,” Ms Serey said. “The duplication of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road will be a fully divided road for 3.5 kilometres between Pound Road and Thompson Road,” Ms Serey said. “Three lanes each way between Pound Road and Coral Drive/Fordholm Road in Hampton Park is the one of the key aspects of the Hallam Road project.” Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren North, Amanda Stapledon said the Casey community has welcomed the governments preliminary work on providing a third lane on the Monash Freeway between the South Gippsland Freeway and Clyde Road. “This project has the potential to cut peak hour commuter times,” Ms Stapledon said.
“Originally deleted from the plans by the former Labor Government to save on time and on budget, the Napthine Government commitment has been welcomed within the community.” In addition to these local projects, only the Napthine Government will deliver the East West Link, a vital project which will pull Melbourne’s freeway systems together. The East West Link will provide an alternative to the Monash-West Gate freeways for east-west travel. The project will ease congestion on the Eastern and Monash freeways, as well as the Princes Highway and create thousands of Victorian jobs.
The Napthine Government will continue to invest in Casey’s roads so that you spend less time stuck in traffic and more time at home with your family.

“The Napthine Government is committed to reducing the cost of living by delivering more affordable public transport for people living in Zone 2. From 1 January 2015 commuters will be able to travel in Zone 1 and 2 for the price of a Zone 1 fare saving around $1200,” Ms Stapledon said. In addition to cheaper fares and major improvements, only the Napthine Government will build the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, which means your interstate or overseas holiday will start as soon as you board the train in Casey. The service will depart from Southern Cross Station every 10 minutes during peak hour with the total journey to the airport expected to take approximately 25 minutes. The new link will terminate at a new elevated station at Melbourne Airport. Ms Stapledon said the Melbourne Airport Rail Link is a critical component of the broader Transport Plan that will deliver more services to carry more people. “Only the Napthine Government will build the Airport Rail Link and continue to deliver better, cheaper, more convenient public transport in Melbourne’s south east.” MORE INFO: myrailline.com.au Authorised by D Mantach, 104 Exhibition Street, Melbourne
