A Note From Ray
As graduation season wraps up and summer begins in full swing, we look forward to welcoming more of you to the Club. If you haven’t already visited the pool, we hope you’ll stop by soon to enjoy the refreshed space and our newly updated pool furnishings.
We recently sent an email outlining changes to the pool parking lot, including the addition of designated spaces for personal golf carts. If you travel to the Club by golf cart, we kindly ask that you use these marked spots. This simple step helps ensure ample parking for those arriving by car and eases occasional congestion in the lot.
Construction of our new pickleball courts is nearing completion. While weather delays have impacted the resurfacing and painting timeline, our contractor anticipates the project will be finished by mid-June. We are planning a grand opening celebration to mark this exciting addition to our Club amenities, and I look forward to sharing those details with you soon.
Please also join me in congratulating Mikel Hokett, our June Employee of the Month for the second time! Over his five years at Starmount Forest, Mikel has demonstrated outstanding growth, reliability, and teamwork. Known for his willingness to assist across departments and take on any challenge, Mikel exemplifies the spirit of our Facilities Maintenance Team. To the Members of Starmount Forest Country Club,
This mid-year letter brings exciting updates as Starmount progresses in accordance with our strategic plan. Major projects, including the golf course renovation, new outdoor Pickleball courts, and our popular pool, are coming to fruition, increasing community interest.
Thank you to those who attended "Lunch with the President." I enjoyed meeting new members and reconnecting with old friends. These luncheons offer an opportunity to discuss thoughts on Starmount in an intimate setting. In June, we will discuss our Master Facilities Planning. Please note that the June luncheon has been moved from the second Wednesday to the third Wednesday. If you have signed up, you should have been notified of this change. Thank you for your support.
June will be full of activities listed in this issue of the Focus newsletter. Please sign up.
Reciprocal golf courses have treated us well for tee times. Huge thanks to Savio and his team for arranging reciprocals at over twenty courses. I know that this is not home, but if you have noticed, we are steadily becoming a world-class golf course.
Feel free to chat with me in the hallway or the Bistro if you have questions. I might ask you a question or two as well.
As the school year comes to a close, let's drive carefully in the parking lots and watch out for our SFCC children.

Summer Golf Tips
Keep You Cool, Safe and Playing Your Best
As temperatures rise, it's important to stay safe and smart out on the course. Here are a few key tips to help you beat the heat and enjoy your round:
�� Stay Hydrated
Hot weather can quickly lead to dehydration.
Start drinking water before you get to the course
Bring plenty with you and use the course water stations
Avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks
Remember: water is the best fuel for your body during summer play.
�� Wear Sunscreen
Protect your skin from harmful UV rays:
Use SPF 30 or higher and re-apply every 1–2 hours
Don’t forget a protective lip balm
Wear sunglasses with UV protection
�� Ride Instead of Walk
Walking is great except in extremely hot weather. On very hot or humid days, riding in a cart can help conserve energy and prevent overheating.
�� Be Aware of How You Feel
Know the signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration: Headache, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, irritability, or lack of sweating
If you or someone else feels unwell, seek shade, hydrate immediately, and have a phone nearby in case of emergency
Play smart, stay cool, and enjoy your summer rounds safely! ����

Annie Young is a skilled dance artist and comprehensively trained Pilates instructor. She teaches Classical and Contemporary Pilates in private, semi-private, and group settings, and integrates her deep knowledge of movement into every session We’re excited to welcome her to SFCC Country Club, where she’ll be offering expert Pilates instruction to our community!
Caroline McNairy has been part of the Starmount community since 2011, spending summers at the pool while her parents managed it. Over the years, she’s become a familiar and friendly face first as a pool regular, then as a dedicated lifeguard. Her love for the water and enthusiasm for movement have led her to take on an exciting new role as our Aqua Zumba instructor. Caroline is thrilled to bring energy, music, and fun to the pool in this new capacity, and she’s looking forward to getting everyone moving!
Zoe Libramento is excited to join the Starmount team, bringing with her a strong background in aquatics and group fitness She previously taught aquatic aerobics at the Bryan YMCA and has a passion for helping others stay active and healthy through movement. Currently studying Exercise Science at UNCG, Zoe is eager to apply her growing knowledge to her Aqua Fit classes She looks forward to creating fun, effective workouts that get members moving and feeling their best in the water!

We’ve reserved a block of seats in Section 106 so we can all cheer together, swap stories, and enjoy the summer night as a club community. There’s no formal food or beverage setup just a great excuse to get together at the ballpark and make memories!

We’ve invited the fabulous Ice Queen ice cream truck to serve up a variety of delicious frozen treats that are sure to hit the spot. You'll find them parked next to our pool from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, scooping up smiles and sunshine.
Whether you’re cooling off after a swim or just stopping by for a sweet pick-me-up, we hope you’ll join us. No RSVP is required just bring your appetite and your sunny spirit.

Join us for a festive, fun-filled Fourth at the pool! DJ Paul Cordts will be spinning all the hits while you enjoy exciting pool games, relay races, prizes, bounce houses, water slides, glitter tattoos, balloon twisting, and more. It’s a day designed for fun in the sun—for all ages!
