Gathering at God’s Invitation

Welcome AngelaZimmerman

CalltoWorship AngelaZimmerman

Come, all you who carry heavy burdens, and Christ will give you rest. God upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. Come, all you who carry heavy burdens, and Christ will give you rest. For he is gentle and humble in heart: in him we find rest for our souls.

We light the Christ candle as a reminder that Christ is the one who has drawn us to this place, abides with us now, and is with us to the end of the age.

PrayerofConfession LindaPulliam

Holy One, we confess to you and to each other that we are tired and weighed down by the mistakes we have made, even in our closest relationships with our friends, our spouses, and our partners.

Lord, we marvel at the thought of a well-fitted yoke, a burden scaled to match our frames;

Some of us are weary from unceasing responsibility; Others of us are burdened by the necessity of removing ourselves from some responsibilities. We do not know how to rest in the promise of a well-fitted yoke.

We confess these things and in doing so, we give this burden to you Trusting in Jesus’ promise that He will give us rest. Amen

AssuranceofPardon

Friends, hear the good news of our faith: God is gracious and merciful, slowtoangerandaboundinginsteadfastlove, showing compassion to all. Amen.

TheChurchatPrayer&TheLord’sPrayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Responding to God’s Word

DisciplineofSilence

To be in God’s presence is to be changed. During this moment of silent reflection, consider the change God wishes to make in you.

*Hymn#625 Standing on the Promises PROMISES

If you sense God calling you today, we invite you to respond during this time of invitation. If God is calling you to follow Jesus for the first time, to rededicate yourself as a Christ-follower, or as a faithful Christian, to join the fellowship of our church, we encourage you to come forward to speak to our pastor during this closing hymn.
