Gathering at God’s Invitation

Welcome AngelaZimmerman

The Spirit of God be with you. And also with you.

CalltoWorship AngelaZimmerman

Lord, our hearts are on fire this day!

Set the blazes of hope that burn away fear!

Lord, we come here to be empowered to serve you.

Cause the winds of change to blow away doubt and alienation!

Praise to God who has brought to us the Holy Spirit!

Let us worship and rejoice, for God is challenging and empowering us this day!

LightingoftheChristCandle SusanFranklin

We light the Christ candle as a reminder that Christ is the one who has drawn us to this place, abides with us now, and is with us to the end of the age.

PrayerofConfession

God’s Spirit has gathered us for worship. Let us confess our sins and return to God. You call us to act boldly, but our fear keeps us from following your call. Forgive our lack of courage.

Embolden us to dream big

Help us to trust the Spirit to fill us and use us. Help us be Christ’s church without hesitation.

Guided by your Holy Spirit, Help us usher in your kingdom to come. Amen.

Acts 2:21 proclaims, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and freed. Amen.

TheChurchatPrayer&TheLord’sPrayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Responding to God’s Word

DisciplineofSilence

To be in God’s presence is to be changed. During this moment of silent reflection, consider the change God wishes to make in you.

*Hymn#551 There’s a Land That Is Fairer Than Day SWEETBYANDBY

If you sense God calling you today, we invite you to respond during this time of invitation. If God is calling you to follow Jesus for the first time, to rededicate yourself as a Christ-follower, or as a faithful Christian, to join the fellowship of our church, we encourage you to come forward to speak to our pastor during this closing hymn.
