FANS (HUDSON)

Hudson Products Tuf-Lite® is a single-piece, hollow and lightweight blade constructed from fiberglass-reinforced epoxy resin. The uniqueness of a Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) mold construction method allows the blades to be formed in an efficient airfoil shape with a gradual transition in the angle of attack, blade width, and thickness. Standard sizes are available from 5–40 feet in diameter.

Tuf-LiteII® is a two-piece blade constructed from fiberglass-reinforced vinyl ester resin. It is lightweight, corrosion resistant, and incorporates patented Tuf-Edge® leading edge protection. Standard sizes are available from 6–40 feet in diameter.

Tuf-Lite III® is a refined and enhanced one-piece blade constructed from fiberglassreinforced vinyl ester resin coupled with leading and trailing edge protection and superior “UV” protection. Developed from the most severe strength-testing program to date, Tuf-Lite III® blades are individually balanced, interchangeable and will install in HUDSON hub designs. Initial sizes are from 28 feet to 10 meters in diameter.

MOLDING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!
In the past, the shortcoming of most fan stacks was the inability to produce molds that would yield precise radius dimensions and fan tip clearances.
CNC machining does make a difference. We CNC our fan stack tooling to 0.001” tolerance to ensure accurate tip clearance without the need for shims or
spacers. Precise fan stack radius dimensions eliminate “clover-leafing” that occurs with inaccurate tooling. All this technology results in a fan stack that is accurate and reduces installation issues, providing years of trouble-free service without the need for constant adjustment.
WHAT MAKES STAR FAN STACKS BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION?
Our fan stacks are constructed using the strongest laminate schedule of any fan stack currently in the industry. The strength of the stack is evident in the laminate schedule and the overall weight of the stack. This results in more material and greater overall strength, and the additional mass results in lower harmonic frequencies. All this adds up to a fan stack that is capable of withstanding high winds and seismic loads while reducing vibration levels across the entire spectrum.

The Star decking system is available in 1-1/8" deep panels, 24" wide. Normally gritted and available in 20' through 36' standard lengths. The panels interlock and overlap to form a continuous, solid surface. The quick screwdown construction system ensures rapid installation and reduced field labor costs. The standard resin system is a slate gray fire retardant polyester resin meeting the requirements of Class 1 rating of 25 or less per ASTM E-84 and the self-extinguishing requirements of ASTM D365. The resin is UV-inhibited and the composite includes a surface veil on all exposed surfaces for enhanced corrosion and UVprotection. Other resins and colors are available upon request.

PRECISION-FLO™ CROSSFLOW NOZZLES

Star Cooling Towers Precision-Flo water distribution nozzle is a non-clogging nozzle designed specifically for all crossflow cooling tower applications. It provides excellent flow characteristics utilizing a one piece design with single support distribution plate. This produces a uniform distribution pattern helping to enhance the cooling tower’s thermal performance.
A unique color coding system allows for easy identification of the correct orifice size. Available orifice sizes range from .625" to 1.375".
The Star Precision-Flo crossflow nozzle is easily installed and can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement.
The nozzle is manufactured of inert high strength injection molded polypropylene for outstanding corrosion resistance and strength.

PRECISION-FLO™ COUNTERFLOW NOZZLES
The Star Cooling Towers PFC™ PrecisionFlo counterflow distribution nozzle is an efficient, nonclogging nozzle designed specifically for all counterflow cooling tower applications.
The patented PFC design provides excellent flow characteristics and a very uniform spray pattern, enhancing the cooling tower’s thermal performance. A unique color coding system allows for easy identification of the correct orifice size, from .75" to 1.5".

The PFC nozzle is easily installed—it attaches to the distribution lateral with a PVC adapter using standard 2" NPT threads. Other 2" threads are available on request. The nozzle can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement.
The Star PFC nozzle is manufactured of inert high strength injection molded polypropylene for outstanding corrosion resistance. Gusseted teeth enhance the nozzle’s strength. Plus, the bottom plate locks into place for additional security.

All Brentwood fill products are available in PVC and are uV stabilized. The PVC compounds used in Brentwood fills have outstanding resistance to weather exposure and are nearly impervious to chemical degradation by alkali, acids, greases, fats, oils, and biological attack. Brentwood PVC has excellent fire rating due to its self-extinguishing characteristics and meets or exceeds Cooling Technology Institute Standard 136. AccuPac® Cross Flow “Herringbone” Fill uses a proven “herringbone” surface design engineered to distribute water evenly over the entire fill area for high thermal performance. The fill packs have honeycomb bonded edges on the air inlets and outlets, plus interlocking offsets that space the sheets and form strong, stackable packs. “Herringbone” fills with integral inlet louvers (XF75IL) and drift eliminators (XF75ID) complete this efficient, high-performance, crossflow media system.

Brentwood's XF125 has cross-corrugated sheets with a built-in internal slant. The sheets have alternating flute angles of 45° and 15°, which allow the fill to be installed vertically and without an angle cut. The XF125 provides for a simple installation that saves space in the tower, which means savings for both assembly and material costs.

Brentwood’s AccuPac ® Splash Fills are utilized when compromised waters are used for make-up, when there may be a high degree of dust or sand in the environment, or when process contaminants may be harmful to film-type fills. By interrupting the water stream with splash surfaces that cause the water droplets to break up into smaller droplets, the greatest amount of water surface can be exposed to the cooling air.

THE BETTER ALTERNATIVE TO WOOD
Unlike wood, Star Cooling Towers structural FRP shapes offer superior resistance to a broad range of chemicals. They are virtually unaffected by moisture or immersionin water and do not require chemical preservative treatment. They are inert and easily disposed of in landfills.

The Star structural FRP shapes are stronger, with higher structural design values than traditional wood. And, they are approximately half the total weight of comparable wood sizes.
Star structural FRP shapes are available with a standard resin system of slate gray fire retardant polyester resin meeting the requirements of Class1 rating of 25 or less per ASTME-84 and the self-extinguishing requirements of ASTMD-635. The resin is UV inhibited and the composite includes a surface veil on all exposed surfaces for enhanced corrosion and UV protection. Other resins and colors are available upon request.
