A word from the man in the chair

What can I say about season 22/23 except for WOW.

In a blink and you will miss it May the club picked up 3 senior trophies across its 2 teams. The first team with League and County Cup double and the Reserves picking up the NSL Intermediate League Cup in what was an exciting month for us all.

It's not just the Senior section making waves, many of our junior and youth teams have been promoted after league victories, this should set them all a new challenge for this season and as the summer months moved on we saw many of the teams picking up tournament victories as they looked to prepare for the 23/24 season.

For this season we are delighted to announce our Ladies section are starting 2 new teams (1 senior and 1 junior), the Junior section introduced 2 new sides to the club and we have reintroduced the Vets back to the club after a season ot 2 without one. A fitting way to expand the club as we move into our 10th year.

Not too many changes with playing personnel for this season, but one to the Management Team, Danny Arnold was offered more responsibilities at Notts County and with their promotion back to the League it was an offer that could not be refused, this is a fantastic opportunity for Danny and he leaves with our thanks and our best wishes for the future.

We are delighted that Tris, Jordan and Louis have stayed with us for another season and our reserves management remain unchanged, that leads us to where we are now, Radford. At the end of the season the club decided that to move forward we need to have a facility that allows promotion to Step 6 football (the new facilities at Hickings Lane will not be completed until 2025) so the decision was made to ground share and after some very friendly and very short discussions Radford kindly offered us the opportunity to play at Selhurst St, one we are very grateful for.

Enjoy the game

Stapleford Town Football Club - Chapter 1

The gestation of Stapleford Town Football Club commenced at the turn of the millennium with the formation of Stapleford Villa FootballClubin2002.

The vision at the heart of Stapleford Villa’s football activities was the desire to provide and expand football facilities for youth and local residents of all ages with “Hickings Lane”, the clubs home ground, supplying a base where players’ love for the game of footballcouldberekindled, developedandexpanded.

After early successes the club declined due to a lack of professionalmanagementresources.

In 2012 a core group consisting of some members of the previous management team and a group of supporters from the community in Stapleford, including parents, young people, local businesses and football enthusiasts, came together to relaunch the Club now knownasStaplefordTownFC.

The management team of the relaunched Stapleford Town FC were determined that the Club be a grassroots community based club with an emphasis on providing a safe football facility that was welcoming to all; regardless of age, ability, personal or financial background meeting the criteria set out by the Football Association’s concept of the beautiful game “for anyone, anytime, anywhere”. Inotherwords:ForAll.

From the very beginning the Club has recognised that to be a true community based club our activities would require a wide remit and so has developed not just the game of football but also the social aspects of the Club drawing in the wider community through events such as community fun days, participation in national events (such as RBL Poppy Appeal) and local events suchasThe“HemlockHappening,”

Stapleford Town Football Club - Chapter 1

Since our inception in 2013 we have expanded our activities building fromthreetothirtytwoteamswith450registeredplayers.

To support the expansion of the Club and develop the potential of the players there are 50 FA registered coaches of which 31 are fully qualified and 12 are awaiting qualification through the Football AssociationCoachingscheme(currentlyatplaymakerstatus).

In2016theClubsuccessfullyappliedtoBroxtoweBoroughCouncilfor a Preferential UserAgreementfor football on the site at Hickings Lane Recreation Ground. Preferential User status provides the Club with priorityaccesstothefootballfacilitiesthroughoutthefootballseason.

Also In 2016, a decision was made to form our senior section and after discussions with Ryan Stark and Matt Moody, a team was entered for the 2017/18 season. Using their extensive knowledge of local football and the wealth of players who, although lived in Stapleford, played football outside of the town a team was formed. We also recruited rookie managerAdam ‘Lefty’Campbell and managed to successfully navigate our way to an NSL Div 1 title and Notts Junior Cup double in the first season. The following year we completed an astonishing back to back championship win lifting the Premier League atthefirstattempt.

The defence of the league title was curtailed by the Global Covid Pandemic and as restrictions eased the club regrouped and with a new management team of Tristram Whitman, Danny Arnold and Jordan Hunter who look to take the club forward,Ahealthy 2nd place finish in the 21/22 season demonstrated the club is both still competitive and also still developing players to come through, taking the club a step further in 22/23 winning the league title and county cup tocapamemorableseason.

About our Hosts - Radford FC

Founded in 1964 as Manlove &Alliots FC and played in the Nottinghamshire Sunday league. Manlove &Alliots were a Engineering firm situated in Radford. After the firm transferred to Scotland in 1970/71, the club carried on under the name of Radford Olympic FC being sponsored byThe Pheasant Inn. In 1977 we became the first amateur side in Britain to be allowed to wear advertising on our shirts and the BBCTelevision came along to our home ground on Melbourne Park and filmed one of our matches and interviewed officials for the evening programme “Nationwide”. In 1978 we formed a ground development committee and decided to seek out a piece of ground preferably in the Radford area for development of our own ground. Radford Olympic transferred to Saturday Football and made progress up the leagues and in 1982/83 finished Champions of the East Midlands Regional League.

In 1983/84, we won the Central Midlands League Senior Cup.
