Scores may be self-reported.

• There is no need to convert your marks to an American GPA. We evaluate applicants within the context of their country’s educational system.

• While there are no courses or minimum scores required to secure admission to Stanford, we recommend completing the coursework necessary if you were to apply to a university program for a bachelor’s degree in your home country.

• Official copies of transcripts and teacher recommendations are required along with translated copies.

• If English is neither your native language nor the primary language of instruction at your school, we strongly recommend that you submit an English proficiency exam such as TOEFL or IELTS. • When you apply, you are applying for admission to the University, not a specific department.

• Stanford students are encouraged to declare a major by the end of their second year. Students are required to declare a major by the end of the first quarter of their third year.

• Stanford is need aware when making admission decisions for international students.* • Stanford does not have admission quotas of any kind.

*If you are neither a U.S. citizen nor a legal permanent resident, your request for financial aid will be a factor in our admission evaluation. While financial aid resources are limited for international citizens, Stanford does offer admission to a number of these applicants each year and guarantees to meet 100 percent of a student’s demonstrated financial need for all admitted students.
