Dear S107 Community,
Looking through the newsletter, I am struck by the varied amount of enrichment activities and the celebration of a holistic education and the enriching experiences that shape the journey of our students.
At S107, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence but also character development and real-world skills that prepare our students for life beyond the classroom. I am delighted to see our core values of Care, Success, Inclusivity, and Innovation, highlighted in the activities and achievements over the coming pages.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting the TISAC Big Band Jazz Day, where our talented musicians showcased their passion and skill in a vibrant celebration of music success. This event not only fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants but also exemplified our commitment to excellence and innovation in the arts.
Meanwhile, our Year 3 students embarked on a transformative residential trip to Green Valley, immersing themselves in nature and outdoor learning experiences. This excursion emphasised our dedication to outdoor education, nurturing not only academic growth but also personal resilience and environmental stewardship.
In a heartwarming display of care and inclusivity, our secondary students visited the Home of Grace, engaging in an outreach project and delivering donations to support the charity's mission. This compassionate gesture exemplifies our belief in fostering empathy, social responsibility, and a sense of belonging within our community.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming Creative Art Showcase, where creativity and innovation will take centre stage. This event promises to inspire and celebrate the diverse talents of our students, reaffirming our commitment to providing a platform for self-expression and artistic exploration; I hope to see you all there!
I wanted to personally congratulate the students who participated in the Military Field Training over the half-term break and to thank Khun Toon for giving up his holidays to support the students in completing this programme. This experience not only instilled discipline and resilience but also showcased our commitment to providing unique opportunities for personal and leadership development.
As we reflect on these enriching experiences, we are reminded of the profound impact of a holistic education in shaping wellrounded individuals who embody our core values. Together, we continue to foster a culture of care, cultivate success, embrace inclusivity, and champion innovation, empowering our students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Have a wonderful weekend and, please do complete the Voice of the Parent survey that was sent last Tuesday.
Kind regards,
Caroline Ratcliffe Head of SchoolOur nursery students transformed our Early Years Centre into a magical world of dragons for our Lunar New Year celebration! Using their creativity and recycled materials like cartons, boxes, and paper, they crafted their very own dragons to parade around in. What a fantastic way to recycle!
Have you ever wondered why plants have flowers? Well Year 3 had a fantastic morning finding out! We went to the secondary science labs to complete a flower dissection. Using lilies we found all the different parts of a flower. We separated each part and had the opportunity to have a closer look at them under the microscope. It was great to see the children so enthused in their learning and using new science vocabulary to describe what they found. We learned that each part of the flower has a special job to do in order to make seeds. Back in the classroom we used balloons to represent insects such as bees and butterflies and demonstrated how they transfer pollen to new flowers. The Year 3 loved the opportunity to learn Science through a practical activity. The Year 3 team would like to thanks Mr. Alex for his kind help in planning this lesson.
Jus be o e e a e b ea , ea 3 we o e es de a p o Green Valley. This was such an amazing first experience for our Year 3s. After their practice camping in our sports hall in Year 2, they were raring to go! Through nature play, they developed strength, thought creatively, and showed resilience. They had the opportunity to use the forest school at Green Valley where they learned how to cut wood, make a fire, and pick herbs to make medicinal remedies. High on the list of their favorite activities was the evening campfire where they toasted marshmallows and sang songs.
It was a joy to see not only their awe and excitement during the trip but also the independence, confidence, and sense of personal responsibility that they developed. All the staff who attended were very proud of the Year 3s. We were even prouder to hear from a member of staff at Green Valley that the students were some of the most well-behaved and responsible students they have hosted on a residential trip. Well done, Year 3!
Before the half term break, our Dual Learners from Y10, 11 and 13 visited Home of Grace to develop the skills in community awareness and involvement. We donated money and goods and helped them paint the wall. It was a very good experience for us all.

On the 17th-19th of February, our Year 12 students ventured to Khao Chon Kai, Kanchanaburi province, to complete their 3-day ROTC military field training! From tower jumping to rope climbing, battling simulations, and more, they tackled every challenge with determination and courage. These experiences not only build physical strength but also foster teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
In an inspiring session for our high school students, on Monday 26th February, alumnus Tadhi Sucharitakul (Kati), currently a first-year medical student at Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine (PCSM) in collaboration with University College London, debunked the common myth that medical school is all work and no play. Kati’s journey into medicine offers an exciting glimpse into the life of a med student, blending rigorous academics with enriching social and extracurricular activities.
Kati shared photos and stories from her classes, social gatherings, and external learning opportunities, particularly emphasising her participation in a conference about geopolitics, human security, and health equity amid global crises. This unique experience allowed her to learn of diseases within specific geographic locales and understand the impact of politics on healthcare outcomes, for better or worse.
A key takeaway from Kati’s experience is the importance of academic excellence, particularly the GPAX and IGCSE exam scores, which serve as the first checkpoint in the application screening process. She advises future applicants to focus on IGCSE triple science subjects, highlighting the significance of physics in today’s technologically advanced medical landscape. Moreover, Kati strongly suggests students pursue Thai language studies at the IGCSE and IB levels, emphasizing that from the very first year of clinical work, the ability to interact and communicate effectively with patients in Thai becomes essential for aspiring doctors.
Beyond academics, Kati stressed the value of a well-rounded portfolio showcasing a range of activities, awards, and achievements that reflect the applicant’s character and personality.
According to Kati, the interview process is less about medical knowledge and more about demonstrating soft skills such as resilience, logical thinking, and a positive state of mind. The multi-mini interviews are designed to assess these qualities, understanding that candidates are still high school students.
Kati’s session was informative and immensely motivating for peers considering a career in medicine. It painted a holistic picture of medical education, emphasising that success in this field is about balancing academic rigour with personal growth and exploration. Her talk offered a real-world perspective on navigating the challenges and opportunities of medical school with enthusiasm and resilience.
The Grow Green Committee, which has students in both primary and secondary, spent two weeks tracking electricity waste and giving "red cards" to classrooms that were wasting electricity. The teachers responded very well and worked hard to reduce electricity waste, especially building four, which saw a massive 80% reduction in red cards. Well done to the Grow Green Committee for their hard work!
