(l–r) Michele Fischer, Scott Hayter, Michael Sifton ‘79, and Karen Seto, Parents Guild President 2012-2013.
T
he St. Andrew’s Parents Guild Executive presented the School with a cheque for $129,000 in June. These funds were the proceeds from this year’s SAC on the Red Carpet Red & White Gala; $29,000 has been dedicated to a full day-boy scholarship; and $100,000 has gone toward the second instalment of the Guild’s pledge of $400,000 to the Not An Ordinary Place Campaign. The fiveyear agreement to satisfy the pledge remains at $150,000 to be paid over the next three years. The devoted Parents Guild volunteers continue to work tirelessly throughout the year to support St. Andrew’s and to help carry out its rich traditions. While the objective of some Guild events is to raise funds, others help to create friendships and promote School spirit. Above all, the Guild remains focused on accomplishing its mission statement: “…constituted for the enhancement of student life in all its diversity, to foster Andrean community spirit, and to provide scholarship and bursary assistance.” The 2013-2014 Guild, under the direction of President Michele Fischer, has over 200 (new and returning) parent volunteers to help carry out the many school events such as, SAC Rack, Poinsettia Sales, Holiday Heroes, Homecoming, MacPherson Hockey Tournament, parent socials, support the Mac House Boarding program, and the New Family Orientation program. The Parents Guild’s major fundraiser International Stars Red & White Gala will take place April 12, 2014. To purchase tickets, or to learn more about the Parents Guild, visit www.sac.on.ca/parents.
