I

t is with great excitement and pride that the Warner Gallery hosts this exhibition of many St. Andrew’s Alumni who have embraced the visual arts as a calling in their lives. The place of the arts in this community has steadily grown to occupy a central role in our students’ experience at this school. The energy is palpable as one enters the O’Brien Arts Center: students with cameras, paints and charcoal-smudged faces move throughout the campus in search of motifs; echoes of song, piano and drums float up stairwells; powerful images reflect on screens and walls. Evidence of our students’ intensity and focus is everywhere. And upon graduating, our seniors take this spirit and dedication with them into the next stage of their lives.

What now beautifully occupies the Warner Gallery displays the imagination, curiosity and passion that our many graduates have taken, literally, across the globe. After explorations in the disciplines of the liberal arts and sciences, our Alumni have poured their aesthetic appetites into a range of visual arts’ disciplines that defy all efforts at easy categorization. However, when we see their films, sculptures, paintings, photographs, furniture, fashion and architectural designs, we are humbled and grateful to be a part of this process of making the human cultural exchange a more beautiful and reflective one.

The Women’s Network seeks to build connections, and since the arts, by definition, connect people through the power of imagination and creativity, we are proud to sponsor this exhibition. We would like to thank our talented alumni for inspiring a new generation of artists and sharing their visions with us in this wonderful celebration and affirmation of the arts at St. Andrew’s and beyond.
