Bequests: 1867 Circle

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR 1867 CIRCLE MEMBERS FOR YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO THE ANNUAL 1867 CIRCLE LUNCH ON FRIDAY 15 OCTOBER 2021.

The 1867 Circle was established in recognition of those who bequeath a part of their estate to further the aims and objectives of the College in our development of present and future students.

Every year, the 1867 Circle members come together for their annual lunch. Last year saw us host our most popular 1867 Circle Event yet, moving the event from its usual space in the Reading Room up to the Chapel.

1867 Circle members and their guests were taken for a tour of the Thyne Reid Link Building hosted by Principal Wayne Erickson, before returning to the Chapel for a program of lunch, musical entertainment and an elite athlete guest speaker panel.

The music was provided by James Armstrong (Fr 2019), who, accompanied by pianist Estelle Shircore Barker, played the first movement from Schubert’s Violin Sonata in A Major.

After the popularity of the guest speaker panel in 2019, the College once again invited three speakers to join the lunch and talk to their area of expertise. This year was themed around elite sports and the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, now postponed to 2021. Moderated by Foundation Board Member Amanda Mostyn, guests heard from triple jumper and athlete Connor Murphy (Fr 2020), waterpolo player Hannah Buckling (Fr 2010) and trap shooter Glenn Kable (Fr 1981), our aspiring, current and seasoned Olympians respectively.

The lunch was a welcome opportunity for many members to catch up, and for their guests to revisit the College and reminisce about their days as students.

The College aims to hold the 2021 annual lunch on Friday 15th October. If you would like more information about becoming a member of the 1867 Circle, or attending the annual lunch, please get in contact with the Advancement Office or a member of the 1867 Circle Committee. The 1867 Circle Committee comprises Niall Cairns, Colin Davidson, Andrew Murray AM, Bob Stitt QC, Stuart Niven and Nick Palethorpe.

We are pleased to be releasing a new Bequest Brochure in the coming months. We look forward to circulating this in our community, and continuing to share with you the impact of bequests, and the activities of the 1867 Circle community over the coming year.
