STALHAM HIGH SCHOOL NEWSLETTER March 2017
Another Action-packed Term!
December 2016
Well, a sunny early-spring day is an ideal time to reflect on another intensive term at Stalham High School. You will read in this action packed newsletter about many great things that have taken place, but I want to mention the daily hard work of students and staff that have made this another term to be proud of as a school. At times, there is no better measure than to walk visitors around the school during a normal day, see absolutely everything that is going on in all lessons, and have them remark with genuine delight “well, this isn’t the school that many describe out there; it’s SO much better!” We will be welcoming after Easter a number of students transferring to us from other schools locally and further afield, who have chosen to come here due to the purposeful atmosphere and friendly nature of the school they experienced when visiting us, and this is something we should be very proud of as a whole community. A visiting team of educational professionals who spent a week delivering an ICT course to a group of Year 11s also remarked, on several occasions, what a wonderful school this is, and how great the students are. That is praise indeed from a team who have working experience of schools in all parts of the country – particularly when they declared that our Refectory food, prepared for us by Russell and his team, is the best school food they have ever tasted! It is the day-to-day focus that helps make the school what it is and, as we head towards the two week Easter holiday, I would like to thank absolutely everyone at the school, students and staff, for playing their part in achieving what we have done this term. It has been tough at times, but we are stronger for it. It has also been a term in which our school community has very sadly experienced several bereavements; our thoughts are very much with those families who have lost loved ones. We will return after Easter with changes to staffing in two areas: We say farewell and thank you to Miss Dawson, who has covered this term in Science while we awaited the arrival of Miss Sheldrick, who will start after Easter. We also say a sad farewell to Mr Ebbens who leaves us after over six years in charge of our IT systems, to pursue his life-long passion as a signaller with Network Rail, and we welcome Mr Taylor (another one), who has already taken up post this week. We were delighted to welcome Reverend Skivington this week, who led our assemblies and shared the importance of Easter. However you intend to celebrate or spend the time, may I wish you all a very Happy Easter, and we look forward to welcoming our students back for the summer term on Tuesday 18th April. Mr M. Budgett Head of School
School Uniform update As you may be aware our uniform suppliers have gone into liquidation. As a result, we are now able to offer two stockists of our school uniform—Stevensons and Tesco. Stevensons will stock all uniform and are already up and running and able to accept orders. Their telephone number is 01727 815700. Blazers can be purchased from Tesco however, we do not yet have a date for these being available to buy online and therefore further information regarding this will be supplied after Easter. Separately, you will have received a letter from Mr McMahon regarding uniform expectations. Should you have any queries regarding this letter or its contents, please do not hesitate to contact the School. Mrs J. Pearson Administrative Assistant
