St Albans Roman Festival – Ten Action-Packed Days Friday 21 June to Sunday 30 June
The St Albans Roman Festival takes place this summer with ten days of exciting, family-friendly events to celebrate the District’s heritage. Among the highlights are:
The Alban Pilgrimage
Alban Fest
Alban Street Festival
A procession of 12ft-tall carnival puppets takes to the streets to re-enact the story of Alban, Britain’s first Christian martyr. This colourful spectacle includes Roman soldiers, lions and chariots.
This event takes place in the Abbey Orchard by the Cathedral following the Pilgrimage procession. Among the Roman-themed entertainment will be re-enactments of battles, live music, food stalls, clay sculpting and other crafts.
St Peter’s Street will be closed to traffic for an afternoon street party including a Roman-style market, dozens of food, drink and craft stalls, live music, puppet shows and a special UK Strongest Man activity.
