FAST FACTS Australians throw away 3.5 million tonnes of plastic each year, but currently, only about 9.4 percent makes its way to a recycling facility. Recycling one plastic bottle can power a computer for 25 minutes and a light bulb for 6 hours. Aluminium can be recycled using only 5% of the energy used to make the product from new. Aluminium can be recycled, filled and back on a grocery store shelf as a brand new product in just 60 days. A glass bottle takes one million years to decompose if not recycled. An aluminium can that is discarded will still be there 500 years from now.

We are very excited to announce that St Aidan’s will be participating in a recycling program in conjunction with Scouts Australia.
Thank you to the P&F Association who have assisted by purchasing seven large dedicated recycling bins and the Student Representative Council (SRC) and Earth Angels who are managing the program among the student body.
The dedicated bins will be distributed in both the Senior School and Junior School grounds and will have signage to indicate which items are able to be recycled. Beyond Term 3, we hope to invite the wider St Aidan’s community (family and friends) to also participate in the program by dropping in your containers that are eligible for refunds. The SRC will be reinvesting the funds raised through this program to ensure its long-term success.
Stay tuned for further details!
