Truth to Power Cafe is an international performance event mixing memoir, image, poetry, music and live and spontaneous testimony from participants in response to the provocation: ‘WHO HAS POWER OVER YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO THEM?’ Is it to your parents, a sibling, politician, lover, landlord, neighbour, religious leader, boss, banker, or simply your best friend? It’s time to tell them the truth before it’s too late.

Working with members of Leep1: Leeds People First and Aspire CBS Bright Sparks Theatre Arts have created a rocking and rolling rollercoaster of a show about time-travel, friendship, freedom, technology and Elvis.

Imagine a world without joy, without freedom; and without Elvis ... what can be done to bring love and harmony back to planet Earth? With the help of our heroes; and Professor Brian Sox, we set off on a mission to restore a world of happiness and togetherness.

A performance where the history of bread meets personal histories of migration.

Over the course of the show, you will be invited to make flatbreads which we will share, along with a seasonal stew, at the end of the evening. Our story traces the journey of this staple and heavily symbolic food from prehistory to Brexit Britain, via biblical times and the Arab Spring. with bread is, in turn, a poetic history lesson, an opportunity to hear voices from the margins, and a baking class. with bread is an attempt to explore what it means to share a culture, to make community and to belong in an everchanging and globalised world. with bread brings people together in a joyous celebration of diversity and difference.

David William Bryan returns to stage@leeds for a back to back performance of his 2018 Ed fringe sell out In Loyal Company followed by his new Show Fragility of Man. In Loyal Company is the incredible true story of missing World War II soldier and prisoner of War Arthur Robinson, written and performed by his great-nephew, David William Bryan. This extraordinary true story of survival will be followed by Fragility of Man, David’s brand new hard-hitting original play following one man’s epic life-long battle with the justice system.

The PAD (Professional Artist Development) programme supports professional theatre and dance makers with a free rehearsal space, and technical support, in a relaxed and creative environment. Hiring our spaces

stage@leeds programmes two seasons of work each year, Sept - Dec and Jan - June. We programme at least three months in advance and all the work is curated by the Artistic Director and the theatre’s creative team. We are always looking for exciting and dynamic new work so let us know about your work. Include links to any reviews, images, videos of your work for evaluation. stage@leeds is available for conferences, seminars and corporate events. We have two theatres, a mirrored dance studio, box office, fully licensed bar and foyer area. Event catering can be arranged. We have extensive lighting, sound and AV equipment throughout and our skilled technical team are always happy to discuss your requirements. How to find us

The University campus is a pleasant 20 minute walk from Leeds city station. Just follow the directions below and you’ll be with us in n­o time at all: Come out of the station into City square; with the Queens Hotel behind you, walk straight up Park Row. Continue up Park Row until the first major junction. Cross straight over The Headrow and continue up Cookridge Street. At the next set of lights go straight on passing Millennium Square on your left and Leeds City Museum on your right.

Turn left on to Woodhouse Lane, a busy main road. You’ll pass Leeds Beckett University on your left and our University campus begins in another 50 metres or so, on your left. To reach the Parkinson building, carry on up Woodhouse Lane to the clock tower building.

You’ll be able to look at a map of campus there and plan where to go next.
