LIBERATING EDUCATION
Music 2020 and COVID-19 presented the Music Department with some significant challenges, many of our usual performance opportunities, festivals and examinations did not run and classes needed to be significantly adjusted. We would like to congratulate all of our students who have stayed positive and participated in online rehearsals and continued to engage in their music without being able to put their hard work together in live performances. Our instrumental tutors and class teachers have worked tirelessly to deliver inspiring lessons, to continue to motivate and encourage our students online. During Term 4 it was gratifying to see some of our larger ensembles able to rehearse together in their sectional groups. We bid farewell to our Year 12 students, who have been exceptional in their musicianship and commitment to the College Music Program. Thanks to Henry Stephensen, Music Captain and all of the Year 12s who have been committed to the program for the past six years. We wish them all the very

best for the future. At the beginning of Term 4 we welcomed Laura Martin in the Music Administrator role. We thank Lynne Mullins for all of her work and wish her well in the Education Support Team. We also thank John Seal for his percussion teaching and work with the drumline over many years as he transitions into retirement. Thank you to all of our families who have supported our program during this challenging year. We are looking forward to making more music, in person next year. Michael Wilding, Director of Music Music for mateship This year ANZAC ceremonies were not able to take place but a number of our students got up early on to play the last post at dawn.
