One lesson I picked up back in high school was that leadership was reserved for the scholars; the smart ones. This mindset, coupled with fear of letting people down, beguiled me to stay lowkey in college in order to avoid being a disappointment. Little did I know that beyond my own constraints would be a place of growth and fulfillment filled with people who saw the potential in me as a leader.
Initiative was the first step. I simply wanted to help to the best of my abilities. As I listened through concerns, offered solutions, and took actions, I discovered the true essence of leadership: authenticity, and accountability. These pillars sparked my passion of making a difference of being the spark and the difference. I was not just navigating my own path, I was helping others find theirs, too.

I am a student and getting a degree is tough.
Endless assignments and duties
But like the spark from the pan, it gives me light, A guide that gives my future something bright.
Midnight oil burns, but the grind’s still on, Like crispy fries at the crack of dawn. Tired eyes, but the will won’t break, Another paper, another step to take.
Sleep’s a dream, distant and sweet, Like soft dough, warm and complete. But here I am, just one more page A sleep-deprived mind, still full of rage.
The coffee’s my fuel, the hustle my guide, Persevering through the struggle, eyes open wide. One day, I'll rest, let the oil cool, But for now, I'm deep-fried, surviving school. In every crunch, there's strength to find, A college life, messy but kind. Frayed, but never afraid to strive. Until I get that degree, I'll continue to thrive.
