2023 St. Xavier High School Summer Camps

Page 1

St. Xavier High School is offering a variety of summer camps where prospective students will be able to meet new friends, explore the St. Xavier campus, and experience the core tenets of a Jesuit education. Through hands-on, community-based activities, St. Xavier’s teachers and coaches promote fun summer experiences filled with learning opportunities.

This course combines a love of video creation with a twist from a galaxy far-far away. Campers will learn to create a storyboard, manage a production schedule, work with video in Adobe Premiere, and they will end the week with their very own video production and movie screening. Cost: $100

Looking for the perfect way to improve your guitar skills this summer? Look no further! Guided by the excellent St. Xavier music department, campers will practice technique and improve their guitar skills along with their peers. In addition to this, campers will participate in group activities and wicked jam sessions! Cost: $200

Approach gameplay from a new angle by discovering the underlying mechanics of the game in a collaborative environment! Learn how to build automatic farms and other strategies for advanced gameplay. You must own a license for Minecraft Java Edition and come with your login information (username and password) to participate in this camp. Girls and Boys in grades 7-12 may take this course (High School boys must attend St. Xavier). Cost: $200

St. Xavier’s Maker Camp is perfect for prospective students with an eye toward creation, innovation, design, and technology. Campers will be taught to safely use a variety of equipment including 3D printers, power tools, and a large bed CNC router. Hands-on and collaborative, the Maker Space Camp is a great opportunity to make friends and learn new skills. Cost: $350

Have fun while learning skills that will allow you to be creative on demand! Improve your ability to: act, speak publicly, think creatively, understand and interpret text, and succeed in future classes! Class covers improvisation, movement, acting scene work, and will culminate with a showcase of student performances. Teachers are Mr. Nathan Gabriel and Ms. Elizabeth Harris, both of whom work as professional directors and teach acting at St. Xavier and at the college level. See dates and times below. The Summer Enrichment Program allows any 7th grade prospective students (boys only) to experience the sense of community central to a St. Xavier education. Through a mix of academic, cultural, social, and athletic activities, the SEP provides an excellent opportunity for students to become acquainted with life at St. X.

The Companion Scholars Program is a four-week, academically rigorous program for high achieving African American, Hispanic, multicultural, or any modest-income young man currently in the fifth or sixth grade. Throughout the CSP, students will partake in academic, elective, and physical education classes designed to help students succeed in the college preparatory curriculum at St. Xavier High School. The program also involves two field trips and concludes with a family cookout, field day, and awards ceremony.
