EXTENDED SCHOOL PROGRAM

FALL 2025

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & CLASSES

A PLACE TO PLAY, CREATE,

AND GROW

Our Extended School Program (ESP) gives families flexibility and kids a safe, welcoming place to spend their afternoons. But it’s more than just aftercare, it’s a space where children can keep exploring their interests, building friendships, and having fun long after class lets out.

ESP provides a comprehensive selection of after-school enrichment clubs and classes that are educational, comfortable, and most importantly, fun. We hope you find a club or class that is interesting and appealing to your child.

Everything we do in ESP reflects the same values that guide St. Nicholas as a whole: knowing each child deeply, nurturing their unique gifts, and fostering a community where every student feels seen, supported, and loved.

Please note that fees for these classes vary, and enrollment may be limited. An early registration will ensure your child has a reservation in the class you prefer.

Thank you for your interest in our program. We work hard to plan a schedule of classes that offer children a chance to socialize with peers and learn together in small groups.

ESP REMINDERS

1.Return completed registration form to St. Nicholas School Extended School Program.

2.Don’t forget to sign out your student through ESP.

3.Class size is limited – register early.

4 Please keep a list of classes for which your child is registered Space is provided below.

6.If you are interested in teaching a class, please contact Kevin Leckenby: kleckenby@stns.org

7 ESP direct phone number is 423-414-9243

8.ESP web site is www.stns.org, and ESP direct e-mail is kleckenby@stns.org.

Remember to send clothing that will be appropriate for the activity in which your child is involved.

After-school tutoring is available at a rate of $45 per hour, and homework help is available for $25 per hour. Times are arranged with the tutor. Fees are billed to the miscellaneous school account.

Important Note: ESP is responsible for managing all before and after-school programs. It is critical that parents accommodate us by signing in and out children through the ESP office for all after-school activities.

MUSIC LESSONS

2025-2026 STNS MUSIC LESSONS POLICY

St. Nicholas School offers weekly private instruction for students on various instruments. A signed copy of this policy is required for all students to be officially enrolled for the upcoming school year. To agree, simply submit your email signature and respond YES at the end of this form. A copy of the form will be emailed to you.

New inquiries should contact Mrs. Miscio (kmiscio@stns.org) for more information, placement opportunities, and the aforementioned enrollment form.

In-person private instruction is the standard. However, some teachers may occasionally offer virtual options on an as-needed basis. Billing in these situations will be handled through STNS and lesson charges will be added to your account. If scheduling an inperson lesson that does not occur on our campus, you will be billed directly by the instructor.

Fees for private lesson times are as follows: 30-minute private lesson $34 (Standard); 45-minute lesson $51; 1 hour lesson $68.

If group lessons are offered, fees may vary based on length of lesson, number of students, materials, etc. These will be clearly stated in advance by the teacher.

If charging any additional fees, teachers will clearly communicate these costs to parents. These include a minimal per semester studio fee covering the cost of recitals, studio supplies, rewards, etc., or reimbursement if the teacher has purchased books or other materials for a student.

By committing to a lesson, you are reserving a weekly time with the teacher. The number of REGULARLY SCHEDULED lessons per month will be billed to your account.

When planning lessons, teachers adhere to the STNS calendar, including any scheduled holidays, breaks, half days, etc. Teachers should provide advance notice of other days when they are unable to teach. In case of an emergency cancellation by the teacher or school (such as illness, school closure or a weather-related incident) no charge will be applied for that date.

We expect that every effort will be made to have children present and prepared for all scheduled lessons. However, our policy grants ONE excused absence with no charge per semester due to illness, religious holiday, or unexpected medical emergency.

To prevent absences that do not meet the above guidelines, and as a courtesy to parents, teachers may be able to arrange or approve a lesson switch with another student. Please give at least 24 hours notice so the teacher has time to confirm that the proposed switch will work for all involved. We ask that parents remember that this option is designed to be an exception, rather than a rule.

In all cases, it is the parent’s responsibility to communicate the reason for the absence or requested switch to the teacher. Excessive absences or switches may result in dismissal from the studio.

If bringing your child to the lesson, parents are advised to park and enter at either the main entrance by the Administration building, or the ESP entrance near the gym. The Chapel gate remains locked in the afternoons, as it is unattended.

If your child has checked into the Extended School Program (ESP), the teacher must escort them to/from the lesson. This may shorten the lesson time slightly, but teachers strive to ensure that each student receives the best possible experience in the time allowed.

While every effort will be made to communicate with parents and Ms. Miscio with hopes of resolving difficult situations, private teachers reserve the right to terminate lessons with those who do not cooperate with the STNS guidelines listed above and/or are engaging in inappropriate behavior.

Parents have the option of discontinuing lessons at any time during the school year. However, please give the teacher as much notice as possible so they can offer the spot to another child without disruption to their income.
