SERVE WITH KIDS & STUDENTS Every week, an average of 250 kids engage in Kids and Student Ministries! The aim is for kids to grow to love God, love others, and love themselves. But we can’t do this without your help. We still need 100 more volunteers to serve as greeters, small group leaders, and more. If you’re interested in serving, visit stlukesumc.com/serve. Have questions? Contact amy.boles@stlukesumc.com about Kids Ministry and heather. kenison@stlukesumc.com about Youth Ministry. BECOME A STEPHEN MINISTER Stephen Ministry offers one-on-one sessions for anyone going through a difficult time. All conversations are confidential. We are looking for 15 more people to say “yes” to becoming a Stephen Minister. Stop by Fellowship Hall after services today or learn more and sign up at stlukesumc.com/care.

FAITH IN THE REAL WORLD: AUGUST 7 & 14

Join us for two incredible weeks when we welcome Fanchon Stinger (8/7) and Dr. David Wilkinson (8/14) to walk us through what faith looks like when it’s lived out in our everyday lives. SUNDAY AFTERNOON LUNCH SESSION SUNDAY, AUGUST 14 AT 12:45PM Star Wars, Science and the Simpsons: Communicating God in the Contemporary World. Join David Wilkinson for this multi-media seminar as he explores the search for God in science, science fiction and popular culture. As a scientist and theologian, what are the big questions of human existence which continue to fascinate us, and how we might glimpse God in the midst of all of this. The event is free but we ask that you register in advance at stlukesumc.com/events.

EVENING SESSION Q&A SESSION SUNDAY, AUGUST 14 FROM 5:30-7PM Difficult questions you have always wanted to ask about science and faith. David Wilkinson will tell a little of his own journey to faith and then be open to any questions on God, the Universe, and everything! He can’t promise easy answers, but he does promise to take the questions seriously. No registration is needed, just show up!

RESTROOM UPGRADES

As a part of helping everyone know they belong, we put some major restroom upgrades in your year-end giving guide last year and we’re grateful for your gifts. We’re glad to announce that we’re getting ready to start this project on July 25. We’re reimagining the restrooms by Great Hall to be gender-neutral/family restrooms. They’ll provide better access for those with special needs and for people assisting loved ones. While we raised enough funds to complete the original renovation project, we realized the need for more expansive accommodations in both our main building (near Great Hall) as well as the Lodge. This means that we could still use additional donations for this project and if you’d like to give to support it or to support the ongoing work of God through St. Luke’s you can do so at stlukesumc.com/restrooms. EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM REGISTRATION NOW OPEN St. Luke’s Early Childhood Program (ECP) is a weekday, play-based program that creates opportunities through play, promoting the development of language, imagination, self-expression, problem-solving, and emotional growth. We are in session from 9AM-1PM Monday through Friday, September through May. Classes fill up quickly. Complete the registration packet at stlukesumc.com/ecp OR pick one up from the preschool office, located in the education wing of the church.

Dr. Jevon Caldwell-Gross Opening Hymn | To God Be the Glory #98 Affirmation of Faith: A Statement of Faith of the Korean Methodist Church, adapted Rev. Eric Burton-Krieger Leader: Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:

All: We believe in the one God, maker and ruler of all things, the source of all goodness and beauty, all truth and love. We believe in Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, our teacher, example, and Redeemer, the Savior of the world. We believe in the Holy Spirit, God present with us for guidance, for comfort, and for strength. We believe in the forgiveness of sins, in the life of love and prayer, and in grace equal to every need. We believe in the Word of God contained in the Old and New Testaments as the sufficient rule both of faith and of practice. We believe in the Church as the fellowship, for worship and for service, of all who are united to the living Lord. We believe in the kingdom of God as the divine rule in human society, in the final triumph of righteousness, and in the life everlasting. Amen.
