Special Thanks to Honorary Co-Chairs Jean Carnahan & Karen Glines

Collectors Choice is a beloved annual event for local artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts. Funds are raised through ticket sales for a night of suspense, chance, and the luck of the draw as names of Collectors Choice ticket holders are randomly selected. When your name is called, you choose one of the available pieces of artwork! With the purchase of one ticket, the ticket holder and a guest may attend and acquire one piece of original artwork (valued at $250 or more). Tickets are limited to the number of artworks available. All proceeds support the St. Louis Artists’ Guild’s mission and programs.

Silent Auction The Collectors Choice Silent Auction will begin on Tuesday, October 29th at 11:59 pm on the online auction site, Auctria.com or charityauction.bid/ Stlouisartistsguild! All bidding and payments will process through Auctria.com. Of course, all of the lovely items will be on display for viewing at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild October 30 – November 2.

Master of Ceremonies Jeff Bernthal Jeff Bernthal is a television news anchor and reporter with KPLR-11 and FOX 2. He has covered some of the biggest local news stories since joining KPLR-11 in 1989. The St. Louis PostDispatch and the St. Louis Journalism Review have recognized Jeff numerous times for his outstanding reporting. He is a St. Louis native who feels fortunate to report the news in the city he knows best.

Former President of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and long-time educator, Karen Glines appreciates art in many forms. The appreciation led to inspiration and becoming an author and editor of books by well-known artists affiliated with the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and displaying her photographic work at exhibits. She is delighted sharing the Honorary Chair role with Jean Carnahan, whose love of art and tradition grace her entire life. A graduate of George Washington University, Jean married longtime classmate, Mel Carnahan, and began oil painting “simply to cover the bare walls” of their first apartment. Her husband became Governor of Missouri and to this day the family still admires many of those original paintings. As First Lady during the 90s, she arranged for the loan of original Binghams and Bentons and other art to display at the Governor's Mansion for its many visitors. With the help of Diane Disney, she created the Walt Disney Arts Festival for rural and inner city children and came up with the concept and funding for the Children's Fountain in front of the Mansion. Following her service as Missouri's first woman in the U.S. Senate, Jean continues her early fondness for art by "painting" words on paper. She's authored seven books and posts regularly to her blog, www.GoodFoodSTL.com. Together, Jean and Karen anticipate that Collectors Choice will create excitement for all and strengthen the Artists’ Guild’s historic presence and future as the oldest art organization in continual use west of the Mississippi.

Greeting from our Board President

A Message from the Event Chair

Thank you for being here and supporting the Artists’ Guild through this wonderful event. Now in our 19th year, the Collectors Choice event is the premier St. Louis Artists’ Guild fundraiser. As many of you know, the night of Collectors Choice is exciting, fun, and full of anticipation. Our online Silent Auction enhances the dynamics and excitement of the main event experience. We also have the added benefit of great food and drink provided by Catering St. Louis.

Welcome to the 19th year of Collectors Choice! We are so glad you are here this evening!

The smooth operation of the Collectors Choice is due to the First Lady of the Artists’ Guild, Margaret Cox, my wife, and her team of volunteers as well as Kathryn Nahorski, our Executive Director, and the staff of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild who worked tirelessly. I also want to thank the artists who donate their work that benefits the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors and members who donated items for the Silent Auction. Thank you all for your generous gifts, time, and effort. For 133 years, we at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild have been at the forefront of the art scene in this region. This event enables us to present some of the best exhibitions and ongoing classes, workshops, and lectures in the region, fulfilling our mission of inspiring art experiences. Jerry Cox President St. Louis Artists’ Guild

“ The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live.” – Auguste Rodin

It is an honor to serve as your Event Chair at an occasion that I have attended for so many years. The members of our amazing committee have made this year stress free, affording me the opportunity to work with some of the most accomplished artists in the St. Louis area and beyond. We at Collectors Choice are grateful for the exceptional quality of the art pieces donated for this event. Some of the artists exhibiting tonight are long-time established members of the Artists’ Guild while others are beginning their artistic journey. A special thanks to Karthika Krishna who coordinated our “online” Silent Auction. We also want to express our appreciation to the many individuals who created unique items as well as experiences for the Silent Auction that convey the distinctiveness of St. Louis Artists’ Guild members. In addition, we are grateful for the support of the numerous sponsors, especially Catering St. Louis who provided the outstanding food and beverages. It was a delight to have met the faithful patrons who attend this event year after year as well as those experiencing this event for the first time. We take great personal satisfaction when we receive comments from so many individuals that are happy with their selected piece. This, in part, occurs because of the diversity of the art pieces as well as the discriminating tastes of our patrons. Lastly, an enormous round of applause for our Executive Director Kathryn Nahorski and her staff, the Board of Governors, Honorary Chairs Jean Carnahan and Karen Glines, Master of Ceremonies Jeff Bernthal, and the many others who have assisted in making this year’s Collectors Choice such an outstanding event.
