March 17, 2023
Dear Friends and Families of St. John, a chairde,
Céad Míle Fáilte libh go leir!
It’s time to Shake your Shamrock!
What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than gather in support of our students, our teachers and our community! Your donations, your purchases and your presence here tonight highlight that you want your children to be taught by an excellent faculty, to experience programs that encourage them to reach their potential, and to enjoy a brand-new play pit!
Auction team, go raibh míle maith agaibh! I am so grateful for the huge commitment of time and creativity that you invest in St John. Thank you to Andrea Marquez, St. John Fundraising Administrator, and co-chairs, Karen Gunther Bombino, and Kristen Capka for your leadership. Thank you, auction liaisons and art volunteers, for working with your children’s classes. The projects are so lovely; I anticipate they will be in high demand! And, of course, thanks to all of you who donated items and hours of service to make this night so successful.
I also appreciate our donors and our sponsors for this evening. We have quite the list, including Irish Dancer level sponsors, Pathway Design and Construction (Kocharhook Family), Armata Construction Services (Miletich Family), Lake & Co. Real Estate (Ross and Rachel Hartwich), and Dick’s Drive-In Restaurants (Donovan Family). A special thank you to our wine sponsor, Chateau Ste. Michelle (Pennington Family). Please see the website for the for a full list of all our sponsors! Thank you, St. John Community!
Enjoy the evening! Shake those Shamrocks and bid online at Greater Giving! Go ndeiridh on t-áth libh! Good luck!

Jambo!
Welcome to the 2023 St. John School Auction. It is time to Shake Your Shamrock for 100 Years of St. John School. I want to thank all of you for your gifts that will support our school—the largest St. John Parish ministry. I know you will be generous as we fundraise for the future of the school. Trust that God’s graces will continue to light our path forward and beyond.
Your commitment to helping the school reach its fundraising goals allows the Parish School to further its mission: providing an excellent Catholic education that is accessible to everyone. Asante Sana for making this year’s auction possible. Our annual celebration would not happen without the generous support of our sponsors. Thank you to the Auction team and volunteers who have worked many hours to create an unforgettable auction week: I pray you enjoy the fruits of your labor. I am grateful for the school parents who gave generously to the auction and who will support the Fund-a-Need. Your giving helps our angels grow into active members of the Church and society.
On behalf of the Parish and School, thank you for your active participation in our Parish School. Your commitment to Fair Share will allow our school to prosper for the next 100 years. Enjoy the evening and Shake your Shamrock.
ASANTE SANA

2023 Fund-A-Need
Shake Your Shamrock by making a gift to the 2023 Fund-a-Need. The school play-pit is in need of updates. Your generous gift to Fund-a-Need will provide new, age-appropriate play structures, lush synthetic playground grass, and an engineered pad system for fall protection.
Additionally, the play-pit will be expanded to include the addition of an octagonal gaga ball pit for friendly competition among all grade levels.
The school’s current play-pit, named in honor of Seattle Police Officer and St. John graduate, Jackson Lone, includes a nautical theme. Officer Lone was part of the Seattle Harbor Unit and died in the line of duty. A group of St. John parents from the class of 1980 came together to organize, fundraise, and construct the Jackson Lone Memorial Playground. The project was opened and dedicated in 2006.
It is time to carry on this tradition of service by replacing the aging turf and updating play structures. Full cost for removal, addition of upgraded nautical play structures, introduction of new synthetic grass, fall protection, and a gaga ball pit will call for a multi-year funding effort.
This year’s Fund-a-Need goal for the playground upgrade is $175,000. Total anticipated costs for the project will approach $300,000. Let’s start the process of giving our students new and safe modern play structures and a play field that will leave a legacy for future generations of St. John students while also honoring the service and legacy of Officer Jackson Lone.
