Many human and social attributes have changed with time from Mahabharata to till date. Knowledge in general and spiritual knowledge in particular has become a thing of past for present generation. They give very less importance to lead their life on the basic concepts of knowledge and spirituality. However, the dialogue in the form of questions and answers between Yaksha (Dharma Raj himself) and Yudhistra, son of Dharma in Mahabharata during their exile period when he (Yudhistra) lost all his four brothers (Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadev)to their ignorance, haste and overconfidence when they gave no heed to Yaksha’ s demand not to drink water from a pond which was owned by him (Yaksha) without answering his questions is a great treasure of knowledge which still stands to its value. After answering all the questions with patience, honesty and intelligence, Yudhistra not only quenched his thirst, got his brother back to life but gave a great treasure of knowledge for the generations to come on this earth. Here, all the questions and answers which present a big picture and guidelines of knowledge and spirituality for a human being are summarized in a more readable and distinct way so that the reader may be benefited. On natural events Q. What is it that makes the Sun rise, keeps him company, causes him to set and whom established it? A. Brahma makes the Sun rise: the gods keep him company: Dharma causes him to set: and he is established in truth. Learning, knowledge and intelligence Q. What is said to be knowledge? What, tranquility? What constitutes mercy? And what has been called simplicity? A. True knowledge is that of Divinity. True tranquility is that of the heart. Mercy consists in wishing happiness to all. And simplicity is equanimity of heart. Q. By what does one become learned? By what does he attain what is very great? How can one have a second? And, how can one acquire intelligence? A. It is by the Srutis that a person becomes learned; it is by ascetic austerities that one acquires what is very great: it is by intelligence that a person acquires a second and it is by serving the old that one becomes wise. Q. What man should be regarded as learned, and who should be called an atheist? Who also is to be called ignorant? What is called desire and what are the sources of desire? And what is envy?
