PROFILE I am a RIBA Part I student at the Architectural Association. Through education, I have acquired the skills of delivering my thoughts neatly and effectively through diagrams and drawings. Besides architecture, I am interested in cinemas, photography, travelling, and sketching. These hobbies also help me to communicate my thoughts with others. ANTI-MEMORIAL LANDSCAPE - T A L E , E N T R O P Y, E X C H A N G E exchange between memory, form, and morphology

Cultural institutions are becoming the primary medium and one of the most effective ways to shape how people perceive the culture of the city through the storage of artefacts and the curatorial exhibition of memory. The equal sign has almost established between the two; however, this methodology of preservation force the culture to be split and separated. Thus, the project challenges the possibility of “the architecture of the city” to become the apparatus for manifesting both culture and history through architectural interventions rather than artefacts and artwork.

The project articulated the events in the city of Berlin as the primary approach to generate the architectural anomaly that will preserve the memory of those events; simultaneously, reshape how people perceive culture and history through the means of architectural intervention.

By utilising these historical events as the generator for possible morphology and tectonics of architectural forms, the project also seeks to challenge the way that current cultural institutions are functioned and designed as the place for intense curation and manipulation. The introduction of the architectural anomaly modified the city into a meta-cultural institution that provides unique experiences and diverse interpretation of culture and history for the onlookers of the city.

U r b a n J u n ky a r d A conceptual Urban Junkyards that function as the vortex which will absorb the architectural form and fragments from the urban landscape through re-forming and re-morphing. Within the urban junkyards, the architecture begins to blend, re-shape, coexist, and form the unique morphological elements imprinted with the city’s muti-memory.

Berlin Event & Architectural Tr a c e s W i t h E v e n t s The critical events and historical points that happen to the city and indirectly affect the form and morphology of the architecture.

These events could be classified into five different architectural traces and legacy imprint on the architectural form and morphology of the city: the historical architecture, Nazi period architecture, Cold War architecture of Separation and Liberation, and Post-War architecture.

Fa c a d e o f M e m o r y The first way to understand the memory in relationships with architecture is to look at the architectural facade. The facade provides the surfaces for hybridity where various fragments, memory, and atmosphere could all be illustrated onto the facade. Therefore, by colliding, juxtaposing, and assembling the various fragments on the facade, the new urban corridor was generated and was able to connect the morphological cores through the story and narrative on the facade.

P r o d u c t o f U r b a n J u n ky a r d s Through the muti-surgeries, both the Altes Museum and Ministry have become more transparent and assessable, but more importantly, the architectures have been imprinted with multiple form and morphologies of the city. They become the products of the urban junkyards, a unique anomaly that carried the city’s memory.

Urban Section of Anti-Memorial Landscape Zooming Out to the Urban Scale of the Junkyard, Berlin has been transformed into a series of architectural anomaly; for example, The Brandenburg Gate has been enhanced by classical elements and typology, and some of the buildings have been separated with the checkpoint in between. While the altes museum has been penetrated, elevated, and some of the materials are substituted with steel or glazings, similar surgeries have also operated on the ministry of aviation. Also, the new connection will be made to reunify the separate architecture, and some of the opaque building were liberated to allow more accessibility and transparency. The portion of the Berlin Wall will be demolished as well, while some of the building will be monumentalised either horizontally or vertically, and the modernist architecture will be attached with classical decorations and been separated into fragments. These transformations will be repeated and reconfigure in the urban junkyards.

FOREST OF HEDONISTIC SYMBIOSIS city, technologies, human, and forest

Social Media can be considered as one of the revolutionary inventions of our contemporary society, a tool which has triggered a new form of virtual interaction, which has itself given rise to what we understand as “media culture” or “image culture.” This virtual culture has the ability to shape our behaviours, way of thinking, and even our personalities. We respond to and act according to the number of likes obtained per post, to the point that we have now established a new way of approaching and designing a reality which is purely fictional by realizing photo-oriented installations and/or sites. Within Indonesia, the transformation has already begun with numerous natural sites being populated with artificial structures and turned into photographic spots, a phenomenon which has led to the creation of Instagram tours resulting in a new interpretation and relationship with of our natural landscape, that of a commodity.

The project exploits the social media ‘like’ economy as a means to reforest the estuary and riverbanks with mangrove-plantations. Every 10 likes on a post with #wounderfulindonesia will equal one mangrove tree engaging both the ‘Post-er’ to oversee the growth of the plant and the government to secure their well-being. The project challenges the acts of “Posting ” and “Liking” beyond their potential of connect people but also as a tool re-connect with our environment and help in the battle to safeguard it.

MANGROVE REFORESTATION

Social Media - Economic Loop The economic loop generated by the posts on social media. Through posting, hashtagging, and liking system on social media, the publicity of Indonesia raised, which then attracts the possible visitors to visit. All their expense within Indonesia will result in the government’s income in the form of value-added tax. Ultimately, the income could use to support the reforesting of mangroves.

Kookye 360 Degree Continuous Rotation Micro Servo Motor Function: rotate 360 degree after receiving the messages, forest fire or global warming, to produce the QR/AR codes for the corresponding messages. Stop rotating when QR/AR codes slide out from the container.

Bearing Function: supporting the metal rods and allows the rod to rotate without affect the prototype.

Wires Function: transmit the the signals and power to breadboard, DC motors, full-rotation servos, and the bluetooth board.

Wheels Function: transmit rotating motion from the rotating axis (metal rod) to the ground which push the prototype fowards.

The meeting hold on the creature regarding with the furture planning process and location will be recorded in the form of bar code and store at the very top of the creature.

The bamboo platform provides the different form of connection (different from the ladders) between upper and lower platforms. Besides, the platforms provide more space on the crature for the workers

Shealter Extension Support The supports allow the cantilever structure of the shealter extension at the back without any physical supports that required to connect to the ground.

Meeting Platform Controller The controller control the up and down movement of the meeting platforms.

The shealter protects the wokrers on the creaturefrom the harsh sun in the morning and afternoon. The cantilever-like shealter provide the shades for the workers who works in the water (to collect the garbage as well as making sure that the protection was place correctly in the riverbanks)

Meeting Platform The meeting platforms will be lay down as the initial/normal state.

However, whenever the meeting is hold, the platform will be bring up to form the larger space for the meeting.

Bamboo Basket/Propagules Protection Paopagules protection which made from bamboos allows the propagules to root properly in the condition of stong wind and waves as well as prevent human interventions.

The bow enable the creature to crush into water more smoothly without confronting with tremendous amount of friction.

Creature of Reforestation - Section The machine could be separated into three primary sections: planting, working, and covering section. For the planting section, the mangrove seeds will be planted automatically in the estuary when receiving ten likes on social media. While in the working area, the workers will discuss the planting routes and weaving the bamboo baskets for the covering section. Eventually, the covering section will cover the plated mangrove seed to provides the safety nets surrounded them.

The Connection throug QR codes on the mobile phone, the connection form between the people who posted and immature mangroves. the QR codes enable them to monitor the burgeoning process of mangroves but also ensure government’s responsibility of protecting and preserving the mangroves.

Through the dissection of the typewriters, the unique machinery component was extracted. This particular fragment from the typewriters becomes the inspiration for the further re-formation and re-morph of the architectural elements by forwarding and backwards between drawing and modelling.

SUMMER INTERNS 2019 --- Re-Programming of Rooftop

The project speculates the possible readaptation of the rooftop spaces in Tainan City, Taiwan. The rooftops spaces often turn into the unusable zones or the ground for illegal extension of the existing structures. Thus, the project proposed re-programming the rooftops into the night markets, one of the most prevalent activities in Taiwan.

The additional folding bridge facility allows the temporary connection between the detached building while preserving the privacy of the original architecture.
