Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX, contains the busiest pediatric emergency department in the United States with over 126,000 visits. The hospital added two new buildings in 2012 totaling $249 million and 533,000 SF – nearly doubling the size of the existing campus to over 1.3 million SF. In 2013, construction began on a $349 million project to add a South Tower, a new utility plant, and renovation of the existing facility totaling 314,000 SF. Cook Children’s engaged SSR to provide security consulting design for these project, using Lenel for both access control and video surveillance. In addition to the medical space, the campus also contains 20 other administrative and auxiliary buildings covering multiple city blocks that are all connected to the enterprise Lenel OnGuard system within the hospital.

This full-service hospital will be complimented by surgical, diagnostic, lab, pharmacy, emergency services, supported by the appropriate ancillary services (dietary, EVS, engineering, etc.).

The Mission Hospital for Advanced Medicine project is a 608,000 SF expansion to replace and relocate services of Mission St. Joe Hospital. The 11-floor tower includes intensive diagnostic and treatment modalities (ED, interventional surgery, cath, and ICU) in addition to multiple nursing unit floors.

Technology design included comprehensive IT / technology systems planning with structured cabling, nurse call / code blue, televisions and television distribution systems, closed circuit and interactive video systems, security (card access, door monitoring, duress alarm), telephony / VoIP infrastructure expansion, WAN infrastructure, GPS wireless clock distribution, and physicians dictation.

SSR provided review and demonstration of multiple video wall systems and assisted in the selection of the final Video Wall display and processing system. In addition, SSR designed a new Audiovisual Equipment Room which housed the Video Wall processing equipment and redundant network connections to critical owner applications and systems. The system design allowed for flexibility of multiple applications to be displayed across the Video Wall in various sizes and areas based on a situational status, allowing view changes during events or change in status. Further flexibility was designed into the Video Wall system allowing workstation operators to display any of their local monitor applications on the Video Wall display as HOUSTON,needed. TX
The goal of the Mission Control project at Texas Children’s Hospital was to provide an integrated Video Wall and workstation space that would provide new technology, improved resolution, and operational flexibility for monitoring of critical systems and applications. The project included the selection of a new video wall display and processing system, new equipment room, integration of 13 operator workstations, and integration of existing conference room displays into the Video Wall system.
TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

GOLISANO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA
FORT MYERS, FL
SSR provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services, as well as, technology planning and commissioning services for Lee Memorial’s Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The project consisted of 300,000 SF of new construction and a 47,206 SF renovation in the existing HealthPark Medical Center. The project was comprised of four principal components consisting of the Children’s Pavilion (293,505 SF), expansion for the central energy plant (8,004 SF) to support the Children’s Pavilion, various renovation and enabling projects to the existing HealthPark Medical Center (88,508 SF), and the addition of a parking garage (109,155 SF).

SSR helped facilitate the design of a new child protection system, an in-room patient engagement system, staff location system and the nurse call system. All these systems needed to integrate with the health system’s electronic record system so SSR helped bridge the gap between construction activities and the information technology integration team’s work that was simultaneously happening. The outcome was a family centered facility that used technology as a tool to better the lives of patients, family and staff. This project was awarded LEED Gold® certification. HOLLYWOOD, FL

ThisHOSPITALnewfour-story,160,000SF, 46-bed children’s hospital, with 40,000 SF stand-alone central energy plant, combines advanced technology and the expertise of the largest diversity of board-certified specialists in the region all in a caring, compassionate setting designed specifically for children. The project included seven ORs, outpatient services, auditorium, play areas, and food service.


ROCHESTER GENERAL RochesterROCHESTER,HOSPITALNYGeneral, the flagship facility among the five hospitals in Rochester Regional Health, is expanding with the addition of the new, 312,000 SF, seven-story SandsConstellation Center for Critical Care. SSR has been contracted to provide equipment planning, asset management, and procurement services for the new center.

ATLANTA, GA This pediatric hospital was a fast-track renovation and new construction of an existing pediatric acute care hospital. SSR provided an inventory of existing hospital equipment, as well as clinical consulting and medical equipment planning services. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver® certification.

The two-story facility provides the following outpatient services to Veterans in Tulsa and surrounding areas: Audiology, Behavioral Health, Dental, Endoscopy, Instrument Sterilization, Laboratory, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Primary Care, Prosthetic and Sensory Aids, Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Radiology, Specialty Care Clinic and Women’s Clinic.
The new 180,000 SF VA Health Center replaces the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic, Tulsa VA Dental Clinic, Tulsa VA Behavioral Medicine Clinic, and consolidates all VA outpatient services in Tulsa.
