INVENTORY

SSR conducts an inventory of existing medical equipment to support clients with: • Existing inventory audit showing equipment condition, quantities, and current locations • Develop medical equipment inventory for internal client management, to and from tracking and excess equipment disposal • Suggested replacement cost reports and technical specifications The physical count is taken by staff members familiar with the equipment, its function, and the ability to recognize quickly and accurately the condition, accessories required, and usable life of the equipment. All information is provided through EPS. All end of life equipment is verified and documented by the manufacturer.

Moving a healthcare setting and its culture to a new space demands operational knowledge, design and construction expertise, and transition planning experience. Moving, warehousing, and relocating new and existing medical equipment to your new space is a daunting task.

We understand the challenges involved with equipping a single department or an entire hospital, which is why we have designed a move management service that supports the needs of both your facility and the individual departments involved to assist your team to transition care.

COOK CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER FORT WORTH, TX Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX, contains the busiest pediatric emergency department in the United States with over 126,000 visits. The hospital added two new buildings in 2012 totaling $249 million and 533,000 SF – nearly doubling the size of the existing campus to over 1.3 million SF. In 2013, construction began on a $349 million project to add a South Tower, a new utility plant, and renovation of the existing facility totaling 314,000 SF. Cook Children’s engaged SSR to provide security consulting design for these project, using Lenel for both access control and video surveillance. In addition to the medical space, the campus also contains 20 other administrative and auxiliary buildings covering multiple city blocks that are all connected to the enterprise Lenel OnGuard system within the hospital.

KING ABDULLAH CENTER FOR SPAULDING REHABILITATION ONCOLOGY & LIVER DISEASE HOSPITAL RIYADH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA

BOSTON, MA

SSR provided services for the review of design and procurement documents, coordination of owner and contractor procurement activities and scheduling, and review of construction implementation and systems testing for compliance with overall project needs and requirements. Also, SSR assisted with the medical equipment IT planning and furniture coordination for IT systems, and developed the RFP and assisted with bid analysis for smart room and patient infotainment.

SSR provided comprehensive technology planning and design services, from concept through construction, to include all major communication systems including voice, data and wireless infrastructure, nurse call, audiovisual, public address, digital signage/patient entertainment, and security.

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY WEXNER MEDICAL CENTER

DUKE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL PAVILION

COLUMBUS, OH

DURHAM, NC

The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center is an 1.1 million SF clinical expansion of the University Hospital including new diagnostic, treatment, and inpatient care facilities. This 21-story, 306-bed facility is the third largest cancer hospital in the nation – complete with 14 operating rooms and a fully integrated cancer-specific emergency department. The clinical space provides expanded operating rooms, intensive care unit, critical care unit, imaging suite, inpatient rooms, pharmacy, nutrition, translational research, public concourse, and meeting / support space.

SSR provided comprehensive technology systems planning including structured cabling, nurse call/code blue, television distribution systems, closed circuit and interactive video systems, telephony, VoIP infrastructure expansion, WAN infrastructure, GPS wireless clock distribution, and physicians dictation.

BAPTIST HEALTH BRENT LANE HOSPITAL PENSACOLA, FL To replace its aging facility, Baptist Health Care is constructing a new seven-story 650,000 SF, $550 million hospital. The new hospital is expected to open in 2023.

The project also includes a new 25,000 SF central energy and four-story 140,000 SF medical office building. The proposed plan provides for the buildout of 260 licensed beds on a 50-acre site. This full-service hospital will be complimented by surgical, diagnostic, lab, pharmacy, emergency services, supported by the appropriate ancillary services (dietary, EVS, engineering, etc.).

The execution of the Medical Equipment Planning scope includes five phases to include: existing equipment inventory, medical equipment budgeting and purchasing contracts, coordination meetings, equipment responsbility assignments, medical equipment procurement, and construction oversight.

MISSION HEALTH ASHEVILLE, NC The Mission Hospital for Advanced Medicine project is a 608,000 SF expansion to replace and relocate services of Mission St. Joe Hospital. The 11-floor tower includes intensive diagnostic and treatment modalities (ED, interventional surgery, cath, and ICU) in addition to multiple nursing unit floors.

Technology design included comprehensive IT / technology systems planning with structured cabling, nurse call / code blue, televisions and television distribution systems, closed circuit and interactive video systems, security (card access, door monitoring, duress alarm), telephony / VoIP infrastructure expansion, WAN infrastructure, GPS wireless clock distribution, and physicians dictation.

TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL HOUSTON, TX The goal of the Mission Control project at Texas Children’s Hospital was to provide an integrated Video Wall and workstation space that would provide new technology, improved resolution, and operational flexibility for monitoring of critical systems and applications. The project included the selection of a new video wall display and processing system, new equipment room, integration of 13 operator workstations, and integration of existing conference room displays into the Video Wall system.

SSR provided review and demonstration of multiple video wall systems and assisted in the selection of the final Video Wall display and processing system. In addition, SSR designed a new Audiovisual Equipment Room which housed the Video Wall processing equipment and redundant network connections to critical owner applications and systems. The system design allowed for flexibility of multiple applications to be displayed across the Video Wall in various sizes and areas based on a situational status, allowing view changes during events or change in status. Further flexibility was designed into the Video Wall system allowing workstation operators to display any of their local monitor applications on the Video Wall display as needed.

GOLISANO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA FORT MYERS, FL SSR provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services, as well as, technology planning and commissioning services for Lee Memorial’s Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The project consisted of 300,000 SF of new construction and a 47,206 SF renovation in the existing HealthPark Medical Center.

The project was comprised of four principal components consisting of the Children’s Pavilion (293,505 SF), expansion for the central energy plant (8,004 SF) to support the Children’s Pavilion, various renovation and enabling projects to the existing HealthPark Medical Center (88,508 SF), and the addition of a parking garage (109,155 SF).

JOE DIMAGGIO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL HOLLYWOOD, FL This new four-story, 160,000 SF, 46-bed children’s hospital, with 40,000 SF stand-alone central energy plant, combines advanced technology and the expertise of the largest diversity of board-certified specialists in the region all in a caring, compassionate setting designed specifically for children. The project included seven ORs, outpatient services, auditorium, play areas, and food service.

SSR helped facilitate the design of a new child protection system, an in-room patient engagement system, staff location system and the nurse call system. All these systems needed to integrate with the health system’s electronic record system so SSR helped bridge the gap between construction activities and the information technology integration team’s work that was simultaneously happening. The outcome was a family centered facility that used technology as a tool to better the lives of patients, family and staff. This project was awarded LEED Gold® certification.

ROCHESTER GENERAL HOSPITAL

CHILDREN’S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA - HUGH SPAULDING

ATLANTA, GA

Rochester General, the flagship facility among the five hospitals in Rochester Regional Health, is expanding with the addition of the new, 312,000 SF, seven-story SandsConstellation Center for Critical Care.

This pediatric hospital was a fast-track renovation and new construction of an existing pediatric acute care hospital. SSR provided an inventory of existing hospital equipment, as well as clinical consulting and medical equipment planning services. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver® certification.

SSR has been contracted to provide equipment planning, asset management, and procurement services for the new center.

ATRIUM WAKE FOREST BAPTIST HEALTH PROJECT EAST

HUMBER RIVER REGIONAL HOSPITAL

WINSTON-SALEM, NC

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA

A new seven story patient care tower and renovation consisting of CVICU, Trauma ICU, Surgery, Perioperative, Imaging and Central Sterile departments. The SSR medical equipment planning team provided Equipment Planning, Inventory, Procurement and Move Management services.

Humber River Regional Hospital, the first truly digital hospital in North America, engaged SSR to provide clinical consulting and medical equipment planning for the new hospital. The hospital was a consolidation of three sites, providing innovative healthcare solutions to the surrounding community.

Specific services included: project review and pre-planning activities, design development, construction documents, procurement assistance, construction administration, furniture inventory, and furniture planning. This project was carried out under the DBFM model of project delivery.

PIEDMONT HEALTHCARE ATLANTA, GA SSR has provided inventory, medical equipment planning, procurement, and facility transition/move management services for multiple projects for the Piedmont system: • Piedmont Main Campus OR Renovation • Piedmont West MOB/Imaging • Piedmont Newnan Hospital • Piedmont Fayette Hospital OR Expansion SSR was engaged to provide medical equipment planning for the main campus 16 OR renovation project, as well as the Piedmont West medical office building and imaging including CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, and infusion services. SSR also provided medical equipment planning, procurement, and facility transition/move management services for a 143-bed, acute-care replacement hospital including emergency, eight ORs, cath lab, interventional suite, central sterile processing, women’s services, general medical/surgical services, and imaging including digital radiography, MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine. We are currently providing planning for a Piedmont Fayette OR expansion project to include robotics.

MEDICAL UNIV. OF SOUTH CAROLINA CHARLESTON, SC SSR provided medical equipment planning, procurement, and facility transition / move management services for the following projects at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC): • MUSC Children’s Ambulatory Campus (CAC) • MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital • MUSC Musculoskeletal Institute • MUSC West Campus SSR was engaged to provide medical equipment planning and procurement for the CAC multidisciplinary clinics. This project also includes diagnostic imaging, procedure and OR rooms, as well as an urgent care. For the Shawn Jenkins project, SSR provided full procurement services and drawing revisions for construction. The Musculoskeletal project consists of imaging, clinics, OR, and procedure areas.

WELLSTAR HEALTH SYSTEM MARIETTA, HIRAM, AND ATLANTA, GA SSR has provided medical equipment planning, procurement, and facility transition/move management services for multiple projects across the WellStar system at the following locations: • WellStar Acworth Health Park • WellStar Kennestone Hospital • WellStar Windy Hill Hospital • WellStar Avalon Health Park • WellStar Blue Tower 2 • WellStar Paulding Hospital • Multiple WellStar MOBs • WellStar Cobb Hospital These projects were delivered in BIM, utilizing Revit drawings with thorough coordination with the design team. These projects included: a 56-bed replacement hospital, women’s diagnostic imaging, six-floor patient tower, multi-disciplinary clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, ED, OB/GYN MOB, long-term acute care, infusion bay expansion, and LDRP renovation.

ERNEST CHILDERS VA HEALTH CARE CENTER TULSA, OK The new 180,000 SF VA Health Center replaces the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic, Tulsa VA Dental Clinic, Tulsa VA Behavioral Medicine Clinic, and consolidates all VA outpatient services in Tulsa.

The two-story facility provides the following outpatient services to Veterans in Tulsa and surrounding areas: Audiology, Behavioral Health, Dental, Endoscopy, Instrument Sterilization, Laboratory, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Primary Care, Prosthetic and Sensory Aids, Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Radiology, Specialty Care Clinic and Women’s Clinic.

The facility also includes patient registration, offices for Veteran Service Organizations, a Veterans Canteen Service retail store and food court, VA Police operations suite, Warehouse & Storage, and five conference and educational rooms.
