It’sbeenatoughfewweeksthat’sforsurewithafew defeatsonthebounce.Butweasamanagementteam wegenuinelycannotfaulttheladsefforts.Wearein thesegamesandmatchingupwitheveryopponentwe faceandplayingsomegoodfootball,butunfortunately notabletoconvertchancesandputteamsaway. Andwithoutsoundingsaltyandsourgrapes,wehave beenonthewrongendofsomeappallingrefereeing decisionsthatinmyopinionhaveproveddecisivein someofthosegames.Appreciatetotallyhowdifficulta jobtheseguyshave……butJesusChrist!

History
Theclubwasformedin1898whenplayersfromtheAlphaCricketClubdecidedto formafootballteamtokeepintouchduringthewintermonths.Withtheirbaseat SophiaGardens,Cardiff,forthefirstsixyears,theteamonlyplayedfriendliesbutthen joinedtheRhymneyValleyLeague.Itwasincupcompetitionsthattheteammadeits mark,andin1914theywontheWelshAmateurCup,beatingHolywellTownF.C.1–0 atNewtown.Theyhaveseveralnicknames,includingTheCorries,Alpha,orTheCards (shortenedversionof[Cardiff].
Afterthewar,theclubmovedtoPengamFarm.Tremorfain1921tooktheboldstep ofjoiningtheprofessionalWesternFootballLeague,butbecausetravelexpenses weresohighin1924,thecluboptedtojointheWelshFootballLeague.In1921,the clubplayedaseriesoffriendlymatchesagainstFCBarcelona,losing4–0,2–1,and2–1.
TheoutbreakoftheSecondWorldWarinterruptedWelshLeaguefootball,butthe Corriescontinuedtoplayfriendliesusingseveralgrounds.Theyfinallysettledat LlandaffRoad,Canton,Cardiff,agroundwhichbecameapermanenthomethanks toaloanfromformerplayerandpatron,FredDewey.
Inthesixtiesandseventies,theteamwentupanddownthedivisions,althoughinthe lateseventies,theyfinishedasRunnersUpinthePremierDivisionandrepeatedthe featin1982.Moreglorycamewhen,in1985,theclubwonthePremierDivisionand theWelshIntermediateCup.
Inthelatesixties,theclubmadeafranticquestforanotherpermanenthomeasthe groundatCantonwaslostwhentheclubdefaultedontheoriginalloan.Forone season,theteamplayedonanunenclosedpitchatPontcanna,followedbya seasonatMaindyStadiumandacoupleatFidlasAvenueinLlanishen.In1974,the clubnegotiatedagroundsharewithRadyrCricketClub,andthishasbeentheir permanenthomesince.
Theclubwererelegatedattheendofthe2013–14season.
Theclubhasalong-standingrivalrywithfellowCardiffsideCardiffGrangeHarlequins A.F.C.,whichdatesbacktothe1980swhenbothclubswerefiercecross-cityrivalsand tookpartinsomemouth-wateringfixtures.Bothclubsarerarelyinthesamedivision,so thelong-standingrivalryhasnotcontinuedoverrecentseasons.The2014–15season sawbothteamsinthesamedivision,sotherivalrieswereresumed;however,Grange Harlequinssadlyfoldedasaresultofplayerexoduswhenfundsdriedup.Asoneof Wales'soldestclubs,CorinthiansarenowintheWelshfourthtieroffootballandhave ambitionsofregainingtheirplaceinthehigherechelonsandhavestakedalarge expenseonplayerrecruitmentintheirattempttogainpromotion.
Inthe2022–23season,TheCorriesledbyGrantThompson,finallygainedtheirplace backintheArdalSouthernLeague(Welshleague)afterafantasticseason,onlylosing 2gamesallseason.
