5 Healthy Meal Options You Can Find on the Menu at SSCC

Al Kunco, Executive Chef & Emilie Kunco, Fitness Specialist

Sometimes it can feel really daunting to prioritize your health and fitness, and even more so when you are out with your friends playing around the Clubhouse. We’d like to introduce to you some information and guidance to help you be the healthiest you can be while still enjoying all that we have to offer around SSCC (featuring items from our all-new spring/summer menu).

Remember, implementing small changes and staying consistent are really what’s going to help you reach your goals When it comes to nutrition, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

Eat from all the food groups. Your body needs a whole range of nutrients to function the way it’s supposed to, but more importantly, it’s about balance. Eat more of the foods that fuel you long term, like veggies and fiber, and less of the hard-to-process foods like prepackaged products (think chips) and concentrated sugar It’s also really important to know your body and what from each of the food groups will help you work towards your goals and keep you feeling good.

Eat Mindfully. We love this one here at the Club because it’s all about taking the time to actually enjoy your meals Eliminating distractions and making a conscious effort helps you not only savor the flavor of your meal, but also in listening to your hunger and fullness cues.

Something that we also see often is people wanting to make healthier choices, but then we get distracted by all of the other delicious choices on the menu.

Our hope here is to provide you with some options that are already on the menu here, and to give you an understanding of what it is about these meals that make them a better alternative

Head over to the 511 Chophouse or the Five Eleven Bar & Grill and try one of these out today! See you soon!

1. Hummus & Fresh Vegetables

Let’s start with an easy and delicious appetizer! Our house-made hummus, paired with fresh vegetables & olive oil are a great way to add some of that color into your meal. For an even healthier alternative, ask to skip the naan bread

The hummus is good for you because it contains protein, fiber, and minerals, but there are definitely some natural fats involved, so you should be aware if you are watching your fat intake Otherwise this is a great healthy start to any meal!

2. Chef Salad

A salad might be an obvious choice, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a boring one! This salad already comes with ham, turkey, shredded cheese, cherry tomato, red onion, a hardboiled egg, and avocado for $12.

Get your greens, protein, and good fat goals met with one meal! Ask for a light option to switch your dressing from the house special to olive oil with a lemon wedge and salt & pepper, or ask for dressing on the side to control the portions yourself Now you have a healthy option without skipping on flavor.

3. Cali Chicken Club

This is a great grab-and-go option for those times you’re here on the course and want to still make your choice a healthy one. This club comes with chicken breast, smoked mayo, avocado, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheddar for $13.

Ask for a light option to swap out your bread with a lettuce wrap, your mayo with a lighter dressing, and the option to take out the cheese You’ll still have a delicious sandwich wrap that’s filling and helping you reach your goals.

*This is good place to note that cheese itself is not BAD, but you should know your body’s limits and whether the cheese will help count towards or against your goals.

4. Blackened Salmon

Salmon is SO good for you, and delicious too! Our blackened salmon comes with green beans and rice pilaf for $25

The rice pilaf is rich in fiber and helps promote healthy digestion It is a touch high in calories and fat, but it also contains protein and essential carbs, so it’s a well-balanced side. The salmon itself has good Omega 3's that can help reduce systemic inflammation and chronic pain in your body! Salmon is also an excellent source of vitamins that your body needs for producing energy and protecting heart and brain health You won’t regret grabbing a bite of this delicious healthy meal in the Chophouse.

5. Hanger Steak & Summer Squash

We couldn’t give you this list without including a beef option for our meat-lovers. Our delicious hanger steak is cooked to your preference and served with roasted fingerlings and summer squash for $27.

Hanger steak contains important vitamins and minerals like Vitamin B12, phosphorus for bone formation, and a little zinc for tissue repair, energy and metabolism, and antioxidant activity You can substitute the fingerlings with green beans or a side salad for an even healthier option.
