MGA/LGA Updates

A Letter from the Men's Golf Association

The MGA board has established a Tee Box Amendment to the MGA Tournament Tee Rule. The original rule was, “If your age and handicap index was 59 or less, you play the blue tees If between 59-65 you play the white tees Age 65 and older play the gold tees ” The amendment still follows this rule, with the exception that you can now move forward no more than one set of tees, with your course adjusted handicap, plus one additional stroke If you are 60 years old or over, you can move from the white tees to the gold tees, with your course adjusted handicap plus one additional stroke There will be a minimum of 3 strokes, and a maximum of 4 strokes applied to this.

The Hole-in-One Program is still a valid program, and will pay any MGA member $600 for a hole-in-one made on the SSCC course If you were to make one, the stipulations are that: (1) you must have a regulated round (9-hole round does qualify), and (2) you must have two witnesses, one of which has to be another MGA member A score card must be turned into the Pro Shop, and the round entered into the GHIN system. Each time a hole-in-one is made, the membership of the MGA is charged another $5 on their dues in order to help fund this program There were seven hole-in-ones paid in 2023 Congratulations to Jon Landers, Alex Motes, Josh Morrison, Nathan Mathews, David Robinson, Kris Childress (2) Congratulations to Bobby Brown and Billy Escobar for being the first two recipients so far in 2024.

MGA tournaments left for this year are the MGA Championship on July 27th and 28th, and Member/Guest on September 28th and 29th.

As always, if you are not a member of the MGA and would like to be, stop by the Pro Shop and fill out a card.
