I have always been a lover of music. My parents started bringing me to baby music classes as an infant. As I grew up, I started taking piano lessons, and then began playing cello in the school orchestra at fourth grade.
Because of this upbringing, I tend to pay close attention to the lyrics in songs. I often associate them with important people in my life at the time of listening. Over the past twenty-two years, I’ve had my share of falling-outs with friends and others — yet I still think of a certain person when I hear these songs. I have used this project as a method to make them my own again. By mashing up the lyrics into new quotes regarding the relationships that they have come to symbolize, I take these songs back as mine.

Oh don’t you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me
I said you’re holding back
She said shut up and dance with me
This woman is my destiny
—WALK
I don’t know why, it’s so hard to swallow our pride!
And I don’t know how many wrongs make a right I don’t know the reason
Sometimes it just feels so, good to cry!
