A MESSAGE FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Dear Friends, 152 years ago the YMCA made a promise to our community to be for all. Every day at the YMCA, people of all ages, shapes, sizes, abilities, backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities come together, exemplifying what our community stands for. No matter who you are, you are welcome at the YMCA. We believe communities are stronger when everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

2018 was a year of delivering on our promise. We adopted a new strategic plan which serves as a compass in our efforts to continue to remove barriers, increase our impact, and recognize significant challenges in our communities.

Our YMCA opened the doors to a new Malta branch in partnership with Saratoga Hospital that paved the way to better access for everyone in our growing community. Membership ended the year at an all time high and is now approaching 30,000 members. More children, teens, and adults came through our doors, participated in our programs, and built relationships than at any other time in our history. We also saw a 42% increase in our Annual Campaign and were able to support 3,850 individuals and families through our financial assistance program.

THE NEW MALTA YMCA

2018 COMMUNITY IMPACT REPORT

In 2018, our YMCA opened the doors wider than ever before through a new Malta branch in partnership with Saratoga Hospital that paved the way to access for everyone in our growing community.

On September 18, 2018, community leaders, Malta residents, YMCA volunteers, donors and staff gathered for a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening to the new Malta branch.

In 2018 we have been able to make a greater impact on the local community. Since the opening, Malta has nearly doubled its membership, allowing more individuals and families to take part in the many offerings provided for both families, children and seniors. On average, the Malta branch now has over 15,000 more visits per month in the new location with their expanded group fitness offerings.

Our strategic plan serves as a significant guide for our decision making, and provides the foundation for exceptional progress.

In early 2018 we began to implement our strategic plan carefully designed by our board, key staff, and community members. Our strategies serve as a significant guide for our decision-making, providing the foundation for exceptional progress. This work will require us to collaborate in new and innovative ways with other community organizations, stakeholders and partners. It will challenge us to work differently as we reach constituencies we are not currently serving.

OUR VISION Because of the Saratoga Regional YMCA, community members will adopt and practice positive life patterns, help each other reach their fullest potential, and foster a sense of belonging for all in the community.

OUR STRATEGY

ADOPT AND EXCEED industry best practice standards for our programs and member engagement.

SECURE our long-term sustainability through increased philanthropy.

DEVELOP an outreach strategy to engage those who may not be utilizing the Y due to inability to pay, lack of inclusion, accessibility issues or otherwise.

LEAD a collaborative effort and reduce the number of youth, teens and adults who are overweight or obese.

PARTNER with trusted community organizations to help articulate and communicate our mission while helping communities understand,

access and practice positive life patterns.

REVIEW AND ENHANCE our hiring, training and supervisory practices to ensure that we attract, hire and retain cause-driven leaders.

A LOOK AHEAD

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

It is an exciting time to be a Board Member because the Y is strategically positioned to become a more essential partner with other community organizations. Our partnering with Saratoga Hospital in Malta, to build a new facility, is one example of how we can have a greater impact on patients/ members in their recovery process, from physical therapy to regular exercise. There are many more partnerships on the horizon. It is also an exciting time to serve as President of the Y Board thanks to those who served in this role before me. There has been savvy leadership and a true north compass to position the Y to do more. We have a strong and rounded management team in place and I look forward to our progress in making a positive difference in our community.
