I have always been a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, ever since first hearing Texas Flood on the radio in 1983. Something about his music got to me inside, moreso than any of the other musicians I had previously listened to.

A humble man whose fame never made him believe he was better than anyone else. The man who inspired me to write these pages and pay tribute to his life and career. A man who was taken away from us at his prime. You meant so much to so many people around the world, and your music lives on for us to enjoy, for always.

On hearing it SRV was dissatisfied with the final results of this recording and tried to have his name removed from it. After repeated takes and spending nearly the whole day in the studio, SRVs playing was virtually indiscernible in most mixes, the rock’n’roll mix being the exception.
The song appeared on James Brown’s “Gravity” album a year later, in 1986.

Stevie plays on just under 10 minutes of music during the course of the film, although he does not play on the theme tune. The soundtrack also includes “Tuff Enuff” by The Fabulous Thunderbirds. No official soundtrack was ever released. The film was released on VHS and DVD.

The entire original King Biscuit Flower Hour, WXRT, WLIR, WMMR, Washington DC and KBCO FM Broadcasts in a 9CD Clamshell style box set. Covering performances from 9 shows and including five bonus tracks performed at Tingley Coliseum on 28th November 1989 and McNichols Arena on 29th November 1989.
Recorded live at the Sound Stage, Las Colinas, Dallas, Texas on 27th April 1983, on the second day of the serious moonlight tour rehearsals. SRV later pulled out of the tour, being replaced by Steve Vai.

Several bootlegs exist of the Soul to Soul Sessions. All were recorded at the Dallas Sound Labs sudio in Dallas, TX during March to May 1985. Listed here is the 4CD version, but there are more tracks available on the 12CD set also available.
Manic Depression (1981 tour, rare live track)
This show was in fact recorded at Auditorium Shores in Austin, TX on 15th April 1984, not Austin Opera House as stated. It was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and also featured Jimmie Vaughan on guitar for "Cold Shot," "The Things That I Used to Do," and "Couldn't Stand the Weather." A decent quality audience video of the show is also available. The show has also been officially released by Wolfgang’s Vault, on a 2LP 180gm ocking it!
Another blistering performance by the band at Fitzgeralds, Houston, TX. on 20th June 1983, at what was the Texas Flood launch party. Audience recorded bootleg with excellent sound. This is vintage SRV, at what was one of his last club gigs. The song “Drivin’ South” was released on the Best Buy promo CD that accompanied the first 2000 copies of the SRV Box Set.

Excellent sound quality bootleg, taken from the soundboard, of the Montreux 1985 show Although the CD is incomplete (51 minutes) it is notable for its inclusion of “Don’t Stop by the Creek, Son”, which was performed with Johnny Copeland and is the only remaining unreleased song left, from the 2 Montreux shows. It also includes both songs that have been dropped from the legal CD release (“Cold Shot”, “Look at Little Sister”), and the full, unedited version of “Ain’t Gone’N’ Give up on Love”. Everything that was dropped from the commercial release, is therefore on this.
