The urban design studio consisted of intensive study of a ward as a group in the city of Bangalore,India. Following this smaller area was focused on to work on a public intervention.

The intervention mainly focuses on redeveloping the existing parks and streets in the neighborhood to be children friendly. The existing parks and streets need to be redesigned according to the users to be colorful, inviting and safe.

ZONE 1: Play park

ZONE 2: Youth Park

ZONE 3: Sports Park

How can these parks together be accessible and safe for children?

EXISTING SITE

With all the four parks catering to different activities but is not used as much, but all are easily accessible and are situated right in the center of a well planned residential layout

1. CONNECTING PARK 1 AND 2

The existing parks are divided by a junction, by blocking the junction and connecting the two parks creates a safe connectivity between the two parks which leads to reduction in traffic congestions in the community.

2.USING THE EXISTING VACANT PLOT

Including the existing vacant plot along the either side of the narrow park creates a huge space with lots of existing landscape, which provides a huge space to create a zone with lot of activities for kids.

CONNECTING THE FIRST ZONE TO PARK 3 AND 4

Physically connecting zone one and park 3 and 4 creates a huge open space. The huge zone will act as an attraction of the ward inviting more people to this layout and the ward itself.
