A centre for heritage awarness and community development Chettinad

The Chettinadu region possesses unparalleled cultural assets that symbolize its distinct identity and character all across the globe. This historical center of the town is imbued with the culture, traditions and lifestyles of the inhabitants, and reflects the designs, materials, and architectural styles passed down from generation to generation.

The purpose of this thesis is to create a social gathering space for the community where all the different classes and ages can interact and have an interactive time rather than having a gazette-oriented time. Also helps to enhance the rich cultural heritage of Chettinad and its people.

IDENTIFIED ISSUES

Being very detached from the rest of the trivandrum city, they face many issues with miss communication.

No proper basic infrastructure for livelihood like primary health care, school, medical shops etc. over waste disposal into Parvathy puthenar and surroundings.

No proper street and drainage pattern. No proper space for social interaction.

Absence of playing spaces for childrens.

Parvathy Puthenar treated as back yard of Poonthura. lack of proper movement pattern and streetscape.

: TO RE-INTREPRET POONTHURA AS A SUPPORTIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE OVERALL DEVELOPMENT OF PARVATHY PUTHENAR BY IMPLEMENTING TOURISM AND COMMUNITY UPLIFTMENT

BUILD ON EXISTING ASSESTS AND CONTEXT SHARED COMMUNITY VISIONMULTIPLE USE DESTINATIONCONNECTIONS TO WATERFRONT MAXIMUM PUBLIC ACCESS BALANCED ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN NEEDS

The existing condition is an unplanned mass housing development which can be utilised into redeveloping it into a new area by implementing effective guidelines which can help to change the character of the area

The design should be an approach which connects the people in the area for their own betterment by implementing a shared community vision among all. Implementing economic oppurtunities for the unemployed youth of the community.

The area must convert into a multiple use

As the development of Parvathy puthenar Poonthura streets should be properly and well interconnected.

Since there is no proper link with rest of city desigining of roads should be proper ensuring a strong link with city and outside city.

Controlling pollution, Planting more vegitation, proper street scape, green pocket spaces, sustainable materials for constructions.
