St. Pius X High School
celebrates 60 years
This fall, Joe Monachino, Jr., Principal of St. Pius X High School announced the Warrior Pride Capital Campaign. This campaign includes the renovation of the Fine Arts & Activity Center (former convent) and the acquisition of 45 acres near campus to build an Athletic Complex. The total cost of these projects is $7 Million. The renovation of the Fine Arts & Activity Center is estimated to cost $1.5 Million. The acquisition of 45 acres of land and addition of a baseball field, softball field, 8 tennis courts, cross country trails and practice soccer field is estimated to cost $5.5 Million.
St. Pius X celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the school in the fall of 2016. Events were held the weekend of Homecoming, and many students, alumni, parents and friends joined us to celebrate our wonderful school and history. Throughout the weekend, there were reunions, an alumni get-together after the football game, and a Mass & Reception, including a commemoration to our deceased alums on Sunday afternoon.
Thanks to a lead gift, renovation at the Fine Arts & Activity Center is underway. The building will house art, music, broadcasting, and technology classes, in addition to meeting rooms and a top floor event space. Through a partnership with Catholic Radio, they will move their offices to the middle floor of the building. The classrooms are nearing completion and our students will soon be begin their daily classes at the renovated site. Plans are continuing at the 45 Acre site for the Athletic Complex. Engineers are making final modifications to the plans and are in the process of getting the permits for the site work from the City so that we can begin work as funding becomes available. “Our primary goal with the athletic fields is to accommodate all of our students who play sports. We currently do not have home facilities for baseball, softball, tennis or cross country. The opportunity to give them fields and trails close to campus would decrease travel, improve safety and renew school spirit for those sports, commented Joe Monachino, Jr., Principal.
A display including yearbook photos throughout the years will remain in the Entry Hall of the school for the rest of the school year.
Thank you to all of you who have already pledged to the Campaign. To date, over $4.8 Million in gifts and pledges have been secured. Please pray for the success of the Campaign so that we can continue to provide the best learning environment and extra-curricular opportunities for our students.
