What are we learning this month?

November brings a special holiday—Thanksgiving is a reminder to embrace gratitude in our daily lives. While I advocate for finding reasons to be thankful every day, Thanksgiving stands out as a moment to reflect on our blessings. I am thankful for my family, our home, the privilege of parenthood, my faith and relationship with God, and the purpose I have been given by God to create Sprouts.

A quote I cherish is, “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” No matter the challenges we face, there's always room for gratitude. As caregivers and role models, it's vital to instill this value in children. Wishing your family a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with appreciation for the goodness of God all around us.

WHY IS

GRATITUDE IMPORTANT? Being grateful isn’t just something your parents try to teach you. It’s actually part of God’s design for how we view the world. Imagine if you were ungrateful every single day for every single thing. The world would look pretty bleak every day. The Bible tells us to be grateful always, even in difficult circumstances.

*Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.*

Meet the Hens!

Meet Matilda, Ida Mae, Florentine, Francine, and Madeline! They are the queens of the roost in Callahan, FL where their awesome owners take great care of these feathery females!

Matilda is a Bard Rock variety of chicken with lighter coloring. She is the boss and very smart. She has the best personality to make friends!

Ida Mae is another Bard Rock but she is darker in color and likes to peck into other people’s business (she is nosy!)

As a Lavender Orpington, Florentine is the social butterfly of the group and likes to play chase with her owners!

Francina, another Lavender Orpington, is on the shy side and show this by lying down while drinking her water.

Madeline, a gorgeous Calico Princess is super friendly, smart, serves as the 2nd leader of the group.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins Ingredients

Directions

2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 8 oz can of pumpkin 1 egg 1/4 cup melted butter 1/3 cup pure maple syrup 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract Cream cheese filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a muffin tin or use paper cup liners to prepare your pan. In a medium size bowl, use a whisk to combine flour, baking power, and salt. In a separate bowl, use a spatula to combine pumpkin and egg. Add in melted butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Once the wet ingredients are incorporated, add to the dry ingredients and mix together. Carefully scoop your batter into the muffin tin. Soften your cream cheese in a glass container (approximately 20 seconds in the microwave). Add your maple syrup and mix. Take a small spoon and add a dollop to top each muffin tin (about a tablespoon). Bake for 30 minutes and let cool for 20 minutes before you enjoy!

Tip for kids: Ask your parent to help you take the hot muffin tin out of the oven!

Cami gave her mom a hug and told her how grateful she is for how hard she works at her job.

At church Marshall was new at church and Tommy invited him to sit next to him during the service. He told him how grateful he was to help him feel like he belonged.

At school Jamie let Joseph know how grateful she is for his coaching—he helped her practice and she made the basketball team this year!

In your community The Stinson family lost their home due to a hurricane last year. Their neighbors rallied around them and they are back on their feet. They hosted a neighborhood event in their park to say thank you!

Jesus Feeds 5000 PRACTICING GRATITUDE

The account of Jesus feeding the 5000 can be found in all four Gospels: Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, Luke 9:10-17, and John 6:1-14. During this remarkable event, Jesus was accompanied by a vast crowd of over 5000 individuals. Seeing their hunger, He instructed His disciples to gather whatever food they could find, which turned out to be only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus then blessed the loaves and fish, distributed them among the crowd, and everyone present was miraculously fed and satisfied.

Following the meal, twelve baskets of leftovers were collected. This miracle showcased Jesus' compassion, His divine provision, and the importance of gratitude.

The Sprouts Scouts get a Thanksgiving surprise guest!

The Sprouts Scouts’ thanksgiving surprise The Parker family was super excited because Thanksgiving Day was almost here! Mrs. Parker had spent a long time cooking yummy food, Mr. Parker had made all the silverware shiny, and their kids, Emma and Jake, had made colorful decorations and even helped cook the food!

The table was set with their best plates, and the house smelled delicious with roasted turkey, stuffing, and pies.

Just as the family sat down to eat, there was a knock at the door. Mr. Parker opened it and found their neighbor, Mrs. Thompson, looking worried and holding a burnt pie.

The family made room for Mrs. Thompson, and soon, she was sharing stories about her childhood Thanksgivings and funny things from her younger days. Emma and Jake told her all about their adventures at school. Everyone laughed and had a great time.

Mrs. Parker brought out the pumpkin pie she had made, and they all enjoyed a big slice. Mrs. Thompson smiled, feeling so happy and loved.

"Oh no, Mrs. Thompson! What happened?" Mr. Parker asked.

What started as a normal family Thanksgiving became something special. The Parkers learned that Thanksgiving is not just about perfect food or decorations; it’s about sharing and being kind to others.

Mrs. Thompson sighed, "I tried to make my own Thanksgiving dinner, but my oven broke, and I burnt the pie. Do you have room for one more?"

As the evening ended, Mrs. Thompson thanked the Parkers. "This has been one of the best Thanksgivings I’ve ever had," she said with a smile.

Mr. Parker smiled and said, "Of course! Please come in!

We have plenty of food, and we'd love for you to join us."

The Parkers waved goodbye to their new friend, feeling happy inside. They set-off on their post-Thanksgiving walk, a tradition they held to keep the outdoors a part of their daily routine.

Mrs. Thompson hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed, but the yummy smells and Mr. Parker’s kind eyes made her feel better. She stepped inside, and Mrs. Parker quickly found her a seat at the table. Emma and Jake were excited and showed her their decorations.

They knew they had made a wonderful memory that they would always cherish. Thanksgiving had turned out to be more special than they ever imagined, teaching them about the joy of sharing and kindness.
