The Citadel is proud to donate the Celebration Place space which serves as the Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration’s “creativity space” offering year-round visual and performance arts experiences including: Binney & Smith/Crayola Dream Makers Exhibition, Pikes Peak International Reading Association Family Literacy Day, 44th Young People’s Art Exhibition, Spring Break and Summer Workshops and much more.

Through cash, in-kind and volunteer hours, The Citadel supported many local community causes and organizations including Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration, Colorado Springs Child Nursery Centers, Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure, Economic Development Council, Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Annual Armed Forces Luncheon, “It Takes Five” Teen Ticket to the Arts, Colorado Springs Balloon Classic, Mayor’s 100 Teens, President’s Day Youth Hockey Tournament, Pikes Peak Library District, The Greenberg Foundation, Sky Sox Salute Sundays, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Fiesta Latina, the American Heart Association and Go Red for Women Education Day. The Citadel hosted a wide variety of events and activities for area organizations in 2006 including Girl Scouts Wagon Wheel Council Annual Lock In, Victim’s Awareness Day & Education Fair, Boy Scout Expo, El Paso County Bar Association Ask A Lawyer Days, Air Academy Credit Union Art Awards program with Colorado Springs School District 11 & Falcon School District 49, Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure Race Shoppe and Registration, Senior Expo, Penrose Blood Bus, Wellness Walkers and Memorial Hospital Flu Shot Clinic, The Salvation Army Angel Tree and Kettle Campaign.

The Citadel assisted over 20 organizations in raising more than $200,000 with community awareness programs, partnerships and fund raising events held at The Citadel including The Salvation Army, Girl Scouts Wagon Wheel Council, American Red Cross, Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure, Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and The Gazette & El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund.

community

Citadel Management employees volunteered over 200 hours for community organizations including Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration, Colorado Springs School District 11, Go Red for Women, Harrison School District 2, Boy Scouts, Goodwill and KIDPOWER. Three area graduates from the Class of 2006 were the recipients of $1,000 Citadel Business Scholarships. Friends & Family Shopping Day to Benefit Education raised over $10,000 for area schools and school programs. Several area organizations participated in The Citadel’s Community Table program last year including Colorado Springs Police Department – Crime Prevention Office, El Paso County Republicans and Boys & Girls Club.
