Care for the Family

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH CARE FOR THE FAMILY

OUR FRIENDS and partners at Care for the Family believe that every family should have somewhere to turn to for support in both good and challenging times. They focus on three key areas of family life – marriage, parenting and bereavement.

All families experience ups and down and Care for the Family provides support and resources that can be accessed by everyone, whatever shape or size of family and at whatever stage of life. They’ve been busy over the last year creating new resources to meet families at every point of need. Read what they’ve been up to below and find out how you can get involved!

STRENGTHENING COUPLES

EQUIPPING PARENTS

SPENDING QUALITY time together is vital for every relationship but setting time aside to invest in one another can be a real challenge. So, we created a date night with a difference: Date Night in a Box.

Earlier this year we sent a mystery box to over 3,000 couples across the country, which included goodies and activities to be enjoyed alongside our online event that was streamed directly into their homes. The response was incredible, with one couple saying… It has helped us to appreciate all the good things that we have already been doing, as well as getting us to think about what else we can do to take us from strength to strength.”

PUSHING BOUNDARIES, not-so-silently protesting, and doing their own thing are all par for the course when raising littl’uns.

But sticking to the boundaries and saying ‘no’ can be tough when you’re exhausted and patience is wearing thin. We’ve recently finished filming Boundary Lines, our new event for parents of under fives, at a soft play centre! It gives mums and dads practical tips for setting loving limits as well as supporting them to use their parental authority, renewing their confidence to stand their ground (and keep their cool) and helping them to enjoy time together as a family.

WE’RE HERE FOR YOU

WHATEVER IS HAPPENING in the world, family life still has its challenges.

Within the last month alone, many families have reached out to us in need of support. If things have been challenging for you, please know that we’re still here for you. Our team of trained counsellors provides a listening ear for anyone in need of support through our CareLine service. CareLine is a confidential telephone and/or email service, which can be accessed by all adults in the UK and Isle of Man. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from this service, all the information you need can be found at cff.org.uk/careline

SUPPORTING THE BEREAVED

FOR THE PAST 30 years we’ve been holding events for those dealing with a close bereavement – especially a partner at a young age or a child.

Our Bereaved Parent Support work has been taken over by Dave and Jane Park, bereaved parents themselves. As they put it: “We are in a unique position to walk alongside those in pain, to empathise and bring some hope and a future.” one individual who said, “It was helpful just being able to meet and talk with others who are experiencing the same pain and are not afraid to admit it.”

Someone else has said,

We’ve had to move our support events online, but we’ve still been able to connect with hundreds of people over the past year and help them begin to rebuild their lives, including

To be with others who absolutely, instinctively know how you feel really helps.” BECAUSE FAMILY LIFE MATTERS

IF YOU’VE FOLLOWED our work for any length of time, you’ll probably know that one of the main ways we support families is through our events.

This autumn, we’re back online with another great line-up! We want to strengthen families of all shapes and sizes, so we hope this line-up does just that for you and your loved ones, because family life matters.

However, don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what others have told us…

“Care for the Family events have never failed to be an amazing blessing.” “Your events are excellent – well structured, well delivered, and always pitched at the right level.” You can browse our events by visiting cff.org.uk/eventsonline - when you spot one that catches your eye, select your viewing date and we’ll sort out the rest.
