The humid air hung thick and heavy, the kind that clings to your skin and makes you question every life choice that led you to stand in a crowded, outdoor festival in the middle of July. My friend, bless her heart, had dragged me there promising artisanal everything and “a vibrant cultural experience.” Honestly, my idea of a vibrant cultural experience involves a well curated Netflix queue and noise canceling headphones. I’m notoriously difficult to please. My standards for everything from coffee to clothing are stratospherically high, a fact my friends and family are well acquainted with.This particular weekend, however, was destined for a series of epic fails. I had on a linen shirt, which, naturally, was creased, and my shoes felt like they were attempting to melt into the pavement. I was on the verge of a full blown meltdown, the kind where I just want to escape back home, curl up with a good book, and never leave my comfortable, climate controlled bubble again.Then, she saw it.

She squealed, pointing across the crowded thoroughfare towards a small booth, its awning barely shielding a table piled high with… shirts. Now, I’m not a “t-shirt person.” I find most of them cheap, ill fitting, and sporting graphics that scream “I haven’t evolved beyond the interests of a preteen boy.” But my friend, ever the optimist, was already halfway across, her voice carrying back over the din. “Come on! I think you’ll actually like this!”This was a bold statement. Usually, she’s forced to accept my criticisms and grudgingly agree with my assessment that everything is, at best, “adequate.”
Cautiously, I followed, steeling myself for disappointment.The booth was unassuming, the merchandise simple.Then, I saw it. It was simple, but at the same time, it was quirky and fun.And yet, the material… it was soft and breathable, almost like it was made with some sort of sorcery.
