The humid Florida air hung thick and heavy, the kind of humidity that clung to you like a second skin and made you question your life choices the moment you stepped outside. We were at the annual Gator Growl, an event I usually avoided like the plague.The noise, the crowds, the general chaos of thousands of college students crammed into a single space was enough to send me into a state of high alert. But this year, my son, little Ethan, a diehard Gators fan from the moment he could understand the concept of a football, had begged me to go. He’d been badgering me for weeks, his eyes sparkling with anticipation, so, against my better judgment, I relented. We packed our bags, making sure we had everything we needed. I was anticipating a long day of sensory overload. But it was for Ethan.

He wanted to get closer to the stage, to the band.The music was deafening, the energy palpable. I found myself, surprisingly, swept up in the excitement. I remember looking around and I spotted a vendor selling merchandise. He was selling tshirts, hats and flags. I am not a fan of fan gear. It’s usually cheap, ill fitting and poorly made. I tend to be very particular about the quality of the clothes I wear, so I wasn’t expecting to find anything that would satisfy my high standards. But, as the evening wore on, I thought I would go over and at least get a look at the shirts. Perhaps something would catch my eye. But I really wasn’t expecting to find something I would love. I walked over.
