FOCUS/19 For six days (15 – 20 September), Focus/19 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour is the design event for excellence. Welcoming trade professionals and design enthusiasts from around the globe, the program is dedicated to inspiring, informing and delivering the best in worldclass talent.

This year, there are more product launches and showroom openings than ever, alongside an abundance of talks, demonstrations, workshops, discovery tours, and guest pop-ups. See the latest collections, meet established makers, emerging innovators, and skilled artisans, and connect with influential tastemakers from 120 showrooms and 600-plus international brands. This abundance of design diversity and experience is extraordinary and reflects Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour’s commitment to creativity and connection. Entrance is free.

FOCUS/19 GUEST POP-UPS This year, another layer has been added to the offering with an array of guest pop-ups that augments home-grown talent from lighting, flooring and furniture makers to carpet and fabric designers.

CONVERSATIONS IN DESIGN Listen to star names sharing their creative narratives at talks and panel discussions including David Mlinaric, Anthony Collett, Andrzej Zarzycki, Andrew Winch, Paolo Moschino, Staffan Tollg.rd, Luke Edward Hall, Flora Soames, Bryan O’Sullivan, Anna Beeber, Nick Ashley-Cooper, and Charu Gandhi.

NEW LAUCHES AND MORE More than 100 experiences are taking place, with creative excellence as a common thread running throughout. CONVERSATIONS AND DEBATES

First staged in 1994, 100% Design is the commercial cornerstone event of the London Design Festival. Attracting more than 27,000 visitors across 4 days, the show is going to be held from September 18-21 and it will take place at one of London’s most iconic venues, Olympia London. Visitors to the award-winning show include architects, designers, specifiers, retailers, developers and more looking to source products for their latest projects as well as inspiring new design not seen anywhere else.

Featuring an unrivaled talks program, bespoke installations and a curated selection of world-leading international brands, 100% Design is the dedicated meeting place for business and design in London. In 2018, the show was the most exciting destination during the London Design Festival. Striking installations, inspiring collaborations, and high-end design remained the focus but a fresh approach to the show and its campaign highlighted its dedication to innovation and emerging talent in a fun, vibrant way.

To coincide with the show’s 25th edition, Talks with 100% Design returns for more than 50 in-depth conversations and debates with designers, architects and a specialist look at trends and current issues. This year’s Auditorium sponsored by Aritco will be a visually striking and thoughtprovoking backdrop designed

by Selencky Parsons addressing issues surrounding plastic usage and waste.

ESSENTIAL HOME AND DELIGHTFULL Essential Home and DelightFULL are two Portugal brands that will be present at this year’s 100% Design event. These top luxury brands will showcase the best of Modern Mid-Century furniture and lighting, balancing the concept of highquality design and craftsmanship.

ANTONIO LUPI Antonio Lupi is internationally renowned as a producer of design bath furniture. The concept of Antonio Lupi was to look at the bathroom in its entirety. As a consequence of this holistic approach, the company does not only produce sanitaryware, washbasins, showers, and bathtubs, but also mirrors and lamps, wall decorations and much more.

BOOK TALKS Curated by design and architecture writer and commentator Grant Gibson, the two-day Talks Programme, hosted at the Everyman Cinema, is set to challenge, provoke and engage.

Responding to the theme: Re(act), a slew of the industry’s leading thinkers’ question: How should design react to some of the world’s most pressing problems?

THE GREENHOUSE LSA International will present The Greenhouse, an immersive shop concept celebrating sustainable living. The Greenhouse will showcase LSA International’s CANOPY collection alongside a range of other products and concepts by Vitra and Spring, who have a shared commitment to sustainable living. CANOPY is a mixed materials collection of cork and handmade, 100% recycled glassware, vases and planters designed by LSA International and launched in collaboration with the Eden Project.

WHERE TO STAY MANDARIM ORIENTAL, HYDE PARK The Mandarin Oriental backs on to Hyde Park itself, with a welcome new outdoor terrace. You’ll find a Far Eastern slant on the peoplefriendly, easy-going part Edwardian, part contemporary ground floor but corridors and bedrooms that are so deeply traditional in decoration that I had to pinch myself to remember that I was in an Oriental hotel at all. The Queen would surely feel at home; quite right – after all, it was in the dreamy ballroom (where today you can have yoga lessons) in the 1930s that she and Princess Margaret learned to dance.

LANGHAM HOTEL The Langham is currently one of London’s finest hotels and is now in the hands of hoteliers from Hong Kong. Once you get over the fact that there is absolutely nothing British about the way the Langham now looks, you realize that its new quasi-Oriental slant is really very welcome and well-executed. The hotel’s restaurant, Landau is a beautiful oval room designed by David Collins (also responsible for the hotel’s romantic new cocktail bar, Artesian).

WHERE TO EAT ALAIN DUCASSE Alain Ducasse’s three Michelin Star restaurant is placed on Dorchester Hotel, a London Landmark. In this luxury restaurant, people are treated with French Charm and eat classical food. The Executive Chef Jean-Phillipe Blondet is very rigorous about finding the freshest and seasonable produce, of course, he is meticulous because has been trained by Ducasse, who always say “The product is the only truth”.
