“Hygge” is a Danish term that describes a feeling of cocooning, cosiness and well-being in a warm, homely atmosphere. The Scandinavians view hygge as anything that fosters feelings of happiness – be it comfortable clothing, candlelight, tea, or soul food. This trend has also spread outside the Nordic countries in recent years. Especially in the Engadin, where the winters are long and cold, “hygge” has become a new way of life. It helps us get through the dark season healthy and happy and teaches us to find peace and enjoyment within our hectic daily lives.

Preparation Gløgg essence Place vanilla into a pan. Add both sugars and stir. Heat slowly until the sugar begins to melt. Then, stir in all the spices. Pour in orange juice and bring to the boil while stirring continuously. Simmer for 3-4 minutes and remove from heat. Then, add the orange and lemon slices. Finally, pour in rum and port wine. Pour the essence and the ingredients into clean bottles and let them steep in a cool, dark place for at least a week. Then strain and bottle. For the Gløgg, stir in a cup with mulled red wine or apple cider and enjoy. Skål!

Be it carpets, the covers of the armchairs and sofas in the hotel lobby, or the curtains featuring landscape motifs from the Engadin. The gorgeous fabric and wallpaper patterns continue into the Smokers Lounge and the Italian restaurant La Trattoria. The collaboration with Fidea Design will enable our guests to enjoy these beautiful designs in their own homes, with an exquisite collection of cards, silk foulards, toiletries, and tablecloths.
