NATURE SETS THE TONE °°°
“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” Van Gogh’s words could also have come from interior designer Virginia Maissen, who redesigned the ground floor in 2020: enjoy a modern take on traditional Swissness using materials from the Engadin.
AN EYE FOR DETAIL °°°
Since the renovation, the lobby has become a veritable cabinet of curiosities – and the perfect place to sit and chat. Colani’s hunting trophies are still on display, but now they are joined by a mixture of comfy seats, hay baskets and marks. Like a miniature natural history museum. But with tasty nibbles and nightcaps.

We combed through the cellar and the attic and found some old treasures: herbaria from the surrounding Alpine meadows that had been long since forgotten. Today, the herbs and flowers from the Engadin adorn the hotel’s Flora and Farfalla restaurants.
The wood floors creak here and there. In the hallway, you have to duck under the wooden beams. And the warmest hospitality throughout. Built in 1651, the Steinbock is a true original. Large enough for whatever you’d like, small enough to afford you plenty of privacy.
MIRA’S KNACK FOR HOSPITALITY °°° A familiar face, a few friendly words. It feels nice to get a warm welcome. Assistant Manager Mira Hauns loves the intimate atmosphere at Hotel Steinbock. And, as it should be in a large hotel family, everyone does all they can to bring a smile to our guests’ faces.
