Come participate in the various challenges available including the Uniformed Category (men’s 640kg and women 540kg), Novelty category (men’s 600kg) and Junior category (under 19-500kg).

Now here’s your chance to find out at this year’s Jump Rope Fiesta 2018. Held at the Singapore Sports Hub, there will be fun and interactive jump rope challenges for the public to try out using the latest Jump Rope technology. By completing the challenges, participants can get to win their very own custom-made beaded freestyle jump rope. Taking place on 1 August 2018 will be the Annual Singapore National Jump Rope Championship where you can catch our local youth jump rope talents showing off their skills.

Jr. NBA – the NBA’s global youth development program that promotes basketball participation and an active lifestyle among children is back in Singapore for the third year! Co-organised by Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Basketball Academy, the programme is free across all stages for youth between the age of 5 and 14.

Through a series of basketball clinics and selection trials, participants will be trained in the fundamentals of basketball and learn the importance of the Jr. NBA’s core values, including Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude, and Respect (S.T.A.R.).

Participants may even stand a chance to get selected as the Singapore AllStars (8 Boys and 8 Girls) to represent Singapore to join other participants from Southeast Asia to enjoy a fun, enriching overseas NBA basketball experience.

Gear up for an exciting July as the National Youth Council (NYC) brings together over 40 international and local strategic partners through YOUTHX, a new campaign to celebrate youth passion, aspirations and their contributions to society.

YOUTHX, an upsized celebration of youth, is a result of a 3P (People, Private, Public) partnership, both international and local, that brings together three key youth platforms - SHINE Festival, Hyperplay and GetActive! Singapore. These platforms celebrate youths in different ways to help young people pursue their diverse interests and passions with purpose.

With Singapore helming the ASEAN chairmanship this year, YOUTHX will spotlight an ASEAN flavour across its diverse offerings.

The week-long GetActive!SG 2018 will be held at Singapore Sports Hub from 28 July.

The highlight event of the year for ActiveSG features a series of sporting activities specially catered for youths and demonstrates how sports can be for people of all abilities to try, learn and play.

The Inclusive Sports Festival will also be held at the OCBC Arena for people of all abilities to learn, try and play sports; making YOUTHx a truly exciting event for all.

GETACTIVE!SG Here are some activities you can look out for: Y Move Asia’s First Youth Movement Festival bringing together some of the fastest growing movement disciplines like parkour, tricking, calisthenics, acro-yoga and dance. Beyond movement and exercise these disciplines foster community, creativity, fun and play which people are falling in love with.

Pillow Fight Games Presenting Singapore’s first ever Pillow Fight Games! Following similar rules to Japanese pillow fighting competition (search it on youtube!) playing with 5-6 pax per team, this is a fun-filled family friendly event with loads of fun and co-ordination plus teamwork required by teams in order to win by hitting their opponents by throwing pilllows. Throwing pillows have never been more fruitful!

Body Movement with Art Body Movement with Art is a meaningful event bringing together children, adults and elderly as well as those with disabilities. The combination of experiential movement with art provides a form of fitness and therapy, beneficial to all. Participants can paint on a canvas using their arms and fingers while carrying out somatic movements lead by an instructor.

Skate Singapore!

It is a momentous time for urban sports in Singapore, with a resurgence of interest in youth centric activities. In conjunction with this year’s National Day celebration Skate Singapore! will be held over the weekend of 3, 4 and 5 Aug 2018 which creates allows Singapore’s best action sports athletes to showcase their talents and allows the community to try out several types of action sports.

Cross Fit Cross Fit provides a platform for youth to discover how fitness can be used for a good cause to empower those around us who may be marginalized.

There will be opportunities to try out the various functional movements used in the fitness charity event, Operation Broken Wing, as well as mini-competitions where participants will be given a chance to put their fitness to the test in a fun and safe environment. Through this, we would like to raise awareness of the plight of youth at risk and highlight how fitness can be used to bring about a paradigm shift, that will ultimately result in the community coming together and providing greater engagement and care for those who are less privileged and require assistance.

SHINE FESTIVAL

In its 13th edition, this year’s SHINE Festival – Singapore’s largest youth festival – will now be held for the first time on the YOUTHX weekend at the Singapore Sports Hub. Through music, dance and arts performances, SHINE Festival aims to inspire youths to pursue their dreams.

Expect headliners from across the region, such as Christian Bautista (Philippines), Joe Flizzow (Malaysia) and Charlie Lim (Singapore).

Here are some activities you can look out for: SHINE Festival Village @ Arena Park Enjoy ASEAN food and beverages, listen to live music acts from around the region, and find one-of-a-kind ASEAN trinkets and accessories at the SHINE craft market.

SHINEx *SCAPE Talent Development Programme (TDP) The annual SHINE Festival spotlights young talents in pursuit of their dreams in the creative fields of music, dance, sports, eSports and arts performances. Aspiring youths will be taking their first step into the limelight at SHINE Festival as they showcase the results of the intimate mentorship and intensive training as part of the Talent Development Programme (TDP).

HYPERPLAY

In another YOUTHX first, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and NYC have partnered with Riot Games and MTV Asia to present Hyperplay.

Singapore’s first-ever ASEAN integrated esports tournament and music festival, Hyperplay will unite youths from all 10 ASEAN countries at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for an all-new gaming experience and seeks to present sSports as a viable career option for gamers and fans.

The excitement mounts on 4 August, where the first League of Legends Semi-Finals will kick off the festival before The Sam Willows take the stage. This will be followed by the second Semi-Finals and then by CL to close Day 1 with a bang.
