VACCINATED & LOVED

DEAR FELLOW ANIMAL LOVERS:

What a great year it has been so far! We have been so busy busy busy!!!!

Our kennel remodel began in mid-May and it is incredible to see the difference for the dogs in our care. They have double the space, new lighting, and a bright outlook on their days with us. It is our partnership with PetSmart Charities and Petco Love Foundation that made this possible and we are so proud of our relationships with these incredible organizations.

Our dog trainer was able to attend a Dog Playing for Life training through a grant in late April which changed the course for the dogs in our care with play groups, doggy day outs, and much more enrichment and behavior assessment happening to help facilitate wonderful adoptions. The volunteer base for our dogs grew tremendously which means so much more time outside for the dogs!

Kitten season began with a bang in late April with many litters being born in our foster system. Our new foster coordinator placed hundreds of kittens into their temporary homes to grow up healthy and ready for adoption. The Spay Your Mom program—where we spay the mom for free and find homes for the kittens when they are completed vetted—continues to grow as the community is learning about this resource we offer to help stop the overpopulation.

We hosted our 3rd annual kitten shower and it was a HUGE success! We were able to gather new fosters, supplies, and make many new contacts. Thank you to PetSmart, Northwest Seed & Pet, The Kitty Cantina, and Petco stores for gathering hundreds of items that we need.

We are always looking for new fosters to add to our team to help with pregnant dogs, dogs with medical needs, puppies that have been weaned, pregnant cats, bottle baby kittens, cats w/kittens, cats with medical needs, senior animals that need a soft spot, so many opportunities! Please reach out to randi@spokanimal.org if you are interested in becoming a foster hero.

Because of your generous support, we have been able to place over 1,500 animals into their new homes as of May 31st.

Hope everyone has a wonderful summer and please come visit us! Hours of operation have changed to visit our dogs, Tues-Sun, Noon-4:00 p.m.

Our motto, we don’t say no, we are here to help!

Dori Peck Executive Director, SpokAnimal
